Reliable, fun, animal lover!
Pet care experience
I have almost 10 years of professional experience caring for animals in the veterinary setting, animal shelters, daycare, groomers, and boarding facilities. Animal husbandry is my passion and I love caring for all my doggie friends. I am comfortable and experienced with special needs pets who may need injections and medications, help with mobility, or that special someone to go a little slower. For those of you with feathers or scales, I am experienced keeping birds, reptiles, and fish and comfortable watching exotics as well. I am currently a student perusing a bachelors in biology and eventually I hope to study wildlife medicine. Conservation and animal rights has always been a passion of mine. When I am not working or studying, I love taking my Pug on walks, going to movies, coffee, exploring Portland, and catching up with my favorite shows.
Reviews
Emily was prompt in messaging me back, showed up on time and our dog Archie happily went off on the walk with her. We look forward to having her walk Archie again.
Emily is a fantastic dog sitter, she sent pictures and updates daily, and was able to enjoy my trip without worrying about my dogs at all. She is knowledgeable and responsible and gave me confidence that she could handle whatever my dogs threw at her.
Emily did a wonderful job with my senior dog. She was experienced in giving medication and knowledgeable about my dogs needs. She sent photos and updates which we really appreciated. My dog was happy and well cared for. I will definitely have Emily take care of my dog again.
Emily kept me updated throughout her stay with pictures, video and messages, which was very reassuring. I came home to a happy pup and a clean house, what more could I ask for? Thanks, Emily, for stepping in on short notice.

Safety, trust & environment
I do not take dogs out without their properly fitted leash/ harness, or leave them unattended outside. Even if you have a fenced yard, pets can be very different with a new sitter and may act out of fear or anxiety. I ask that dog doors and access to outside is closed when I am not there to supervise. I don’t usually take dogs to off leash dog parks but my “rules” are mostly guidelines and the visit can be tailored to your needs keeping everyone’s safety in mind.

Information Emily R. would like to know about your pet
I would like to be familiar with your dogs eating and potty schedule, their fears and triggers, what their favorite treats and toys are, and of course, their sweet spots! I do not have any breed restrictions or preferences. Safety is my number one concern! My only requirement is a proper harness/collar and lead that fits safely on your dog for walks and a secure yard if you prefer your dog goes out off leash. During our visit I ask that free access to the outside through dog doors is limited to when I am home to supervise only. If you have a large, strong puller, I may recommend a face halter or no pull harness for both mine and your dogs safety.
A typical day
When first meeting new clients, I like to spend time getting to know you and your dog. Every dog has different physical and social needs so I will tailor our time together based on what would be most beneficial to your pup. I enjoy taking my new friends on hikes, park walks, drives, pet store trips for yummy snacks, and cuddle time. Every outing will be confirmed prior. You know your pup best and I would like to make every experience you dog has with me fun and beneficial to his health.

Availability
I am currently working from home but have flexible hours. Your dog must be able to go 4 hours (never longer than that) between potty breaks, however for the right fit pups are more than welcome to come and hang out with me while I work. Weekends and after work are designated puppy playtime! Things happen and I am completely flexible to things changing. In some (rare) instances extra fees for late pick ups and other extenuating circumstances may apply. These circumstances, should they arise, will be thoroughly communicated and you will be never be hit with surprise fees.
