Enthusiastic and experienced dog carer and trainer

Pet care experience

*Happily accepting last minute holiday bookings* Hi, I’m Emily. I’m a lifelong animal lover and have been working in the dog care industry full-time for 3 years, volunteering with animals part-time for over 10 years. At the moment I am focusing on more advanced training qualifications, so when your dog is with me they will get lots of fun and stimulation! In the past I have worked in shelters rehabilitating dogs; in daycares and boarding facilities; delivering both puppy and adult dog training; grooming and have worked closely with veterinarians on a number of occasions. I am fully canine first aid trained and experienced in administering medications, both orally and through injection. I worked as a (human)vaccinator for the NHS throughout the first vaccine rollout so am very competent working with needles. When your dogs are in my care, no matter how long, I will perform a daily health check on them to ensure they come back to you healthy and happy!
I have also owned cats, rabbits, rats, various other rodents and reptiles in the past so I can cater to these as well but will never board dogs and other animals at the same time unless they are from the same home. I’ve even looked after Pygmy marmoset monkeys - please don’t be afraid to reach out with any unusual requests! I can offer basic harness training for cats and rats - last year I trained my friends cat who now goes for walks with her dog. *Please note my prices are for dogs that can safely board with other dogs. I’m happy to board dogs 1-to-1 but there will be an increase in price to reflect this

Emily is clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to dogs and their quirks and behaviours. She was very patient with my bratty boy (who enjoys refusing to walk sometimes) - and even gave real-time updates on how their first walk went which was above and beyond.

Safety, trust & environment

I offer walks between 1-3 hours depending on your dogs needs. The price for this is per hour and I can take up to four dogs on these walks depending on size and temperament. 1-1 walks can be requested. These can be on or off-lead but if your dog doesn’t have sufficient recall I will have to put them on a long lead for safety (and my own peace of mind!)

During daycare dogs will typically get 2 big walks, but I can easily change this to fit your dogs needs.

When boarding dogs I can take them out as often as needed. As I mentioned, dog care is my full time profession so I will not have to leave them at home by themselves during the day and I often will be able to walk them with other dogs (with your approval). I will never leave dogs from different households unsupervised together.
I am happy to offer top-up and behavioural training if needed, this can be discussed in person or over message. I can also perform basic grooming (baths, brushing and de-matting) but unfortunately do not have proper facilities and equipment for haircuts. I do however have a colleague that can offer these services from either my home or yours and would be more than happy to coordinate this for you. I live in a house with my brother and one other friend. They are both great with dogs and love meeting the pups I bring home! We have a large indoor downstairs area and a big fully fenced garden with Astro turf. We have lots of toys and games but I am happy for you to bring your own too! I am more than happy for dogs to sleep in my bedroom, they can cuddle up in my arms or bring their own bed - whatever they are used to at home would be best for them. If they would prefer free roam of the house that is fine too as long as they are well trained. There is even a spare bedroom if they would prefer their own space. I also have crates of various sizes but won’t use these without your consent. For older dogs, dogs with limited toilet training or dogs unable to use stairs I am happy to keep them downstairs and sleep on the couch next to them. Please note though that there are 4 stairs leading from my house to the garden. I can cater to most additional needs so just let me know and we can arrange something, this might come with additional charges depending on the extent of your dogs needs.

I often take trips to Hastings with my dogs - if your pets are boarding with me for a week or longer I can arrange to take them there if you give me advance notice. It is a beautiful house belonging to my dad with a fenced in garden, a gate leading directly to a big park and less than a minute walk from the beach. I usually take the train there so they would need to be comfortable with this. I will ask for proof of vaccination upon confirming the booking, kennel cough (bordatella) vaccine is encouraged. There have been instances where I have taken young puppies that have yet to finish their course of vaccinations as the family had an emergency. In this case I have a spacious area of the house/garden that can be closed off and deep cleaned and they will be under 24hr 1-1 supervision.

I am more than happy to do pickup/drop-offs for a small additional fee. I can also provide top-up training, socialisation and tools for separation anxiety, every dog is an individual so I will always take the extra time to make sure your pets have everything they need to be happy and fulfilled :) When your dogs are with me I'll do everything I can to make sure they are loved and well cared for and happily update you as much or as little as you'd like. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions, I’m always happy to have a chat and ease any concerns you might have about leaving your pets!

Information Emily P. would like to know about your pet

I truly am willing to accommodate most extra needs that your dog may have. However, it is important for me to know about anything ahead of time as I never want to jeopardise the safety of your dog or anyone else’s. From minor issues such as fearfulness of large dogs, lead pulling, medication needs etc to more major issues such as severe injuries, allergies or disabilities, resource guarding or reactivity, I am always ready to do whatever it takes to help your dog. Giving too much information ahead of time is always preferable to not enough!

A typical day

During daycare dogs will get two big walks a day unless requested otherwise by the owner, and for boarding they will have two big daytime walks and a small morning and evening walk. They will also have access to the garden at any time where I love to run around with them, set up games or training exercises for them and in the summer we always have a paddling pool out! I try to keep a healthy balance of enrichment and fun without overstimulation, so I end each walk/game/training session and any other moments of high energy and excitement with a 20-minute rest time. From my house I most commonly go to Putney Heath, Wandsworth Park and Bishops park. When I have dogs that I’m certain have great recall and won’t try to chase the deer I love to take them to Richmond Park! I stay really up to date with the safety of these parks and am part of a group of dog walkers that update each other should there ever be hazards in the park. Recently there have been issues at Wimbledon Common due to invasive plant species that are toxic to dogs so I no longer go there. I am always trying to keep up to date with the environments I take my dogs to and ensuring everyone’s safety :)

I work with dogs so rest assured your dog will not be left alone all day while I work, I’ll spend the day with them making sure they are happy and have everything they need! I’ll never take more than 4 dogs at one time, depending on size and temperament I often limit myself to two or three. I don’t have any pets myself at the moment but my dad’s dogs live in Fulham and come to play often. He has an 11 year old Golden Retriever and a 3 year old Saint Bernard. They are very friendly but please let me know upon booking if your dog has an issue with large dogs as I will arrange for them to be elsewhere! When dogs are boarding with me I try you spend 24/7 with them if possible. I occasionally will go for a pub dinner or to a friends house in which case I will always bring them with me unless the owner has specified other preferences. If that is the case, or if I have another dog to walk who your dog isn’t a fan of, I will leave them safely in a large but closed off downstairs area of my house. I will never leave two dogs from different households unattended, unless specified by both owners that the dogs know each other well and they trust them to be left alone together.
