Emily is a gem. She is a mature, caring and empathetic person. My dog is the best judge of character and he may prefer her to me :))
Emily was a great sitter and super friendly! She was very communicative, showed up when she said she would all week and took great care of my dog and two cats. I will definitely reach out again for future care.
I am simply devastated to have to write a review like this, especially from my wife’s account. But, I truly feel as though it is my responsibility as a decent human being to be honest so that other loving dog owners can beware and steer clear of what we were put through since hiring Emily to watch our beloved dogs for two weekend evenings. I had the absolute WORST experience I have ever had, with Emily. She was unfortunately a major disappointment. She seemed like a very nice girl when we met her for the first time and introduced her to our sweet, loving dogs, prior to her stay in our home. On the day of the stay with our dogs, she came to our house and things started out OK. About 30 minutes into (what was supposed to be an extended/almost overnight stay) at our home, I receive a notification from our ADT security that there was a person in our driveway. -She had a woman come over (that we had never met) and she let her into our house. The woman was her mother, a friend? -we assumed/still don’t even know. We were never asked nor told that anyone else would be entering our home. Emily blatantly lied to me repeatedly when I checked in with her to ask how things were going. She was on her computer the whole time. The dogs did not get much attention. She also did not take them for a walk to get exercise either. - All of these things were verbally agreed upon before we hired her. After two hours in our house with her mother/friend, they both left in their separate vehicles. She left all of our doors unlocked and didn’t set our alarm - after we had asked her and showed her how to do this and provided her with all of the codes and information needed. (I told her if she had any questions at all or needed any help with it she could just call me). We provided her with the alarm info for one purpose only, which was so that she could feel one hundred percent comfortable staying in our home - to give her peace of mind that she could set the alarm while she was inside the house with our dogs. She left our dogs completely unattended for many hours with the doors unlocked. She was gone for almost 3 hours. I tried desperately to contact her for over 2 hours by phone call and text because we thought perhaps there had been an emergency of some kind! - She would not answer and ghosted me because she did not want to own up to the fact that she was not doing the job that I was paying her to do. It was very immature and blatantly irresponsible. I was also very upfront with her about having a security system and a Furbo dog camera. I caught her on camera on her computer talking and joking with a man about how easy it would be to steal from us via our credit card. - - I was nice enough to leave some money on a credit card for her to order some takeout food because I knew she would be staying at our house for quite a while and figured that might help her out a bit. —She joked about this, and told her male friend that it would be “really fun to buy a bunch of things with my credit card” like “a ton of lingerie” and they all laughed about it. Wow - nothing like being shit on in your own home, while your dogs needs are being ignored. I knew something felt very off after a stranger was let into my home, without my consent or knowledge, so that is why I checked our Furbo dog cameras because we were very worried for our dogs safety and wellbeing at this point. We didn’t know if something bad had happened to Emily or if something bad had happened to our dogs, because we couldn’t see or know their whereabouts because we had zero contact with Emily. She never returned my calls or frantic texts about the dogs. She called me hours later and acted like absolutely nothing had happened and that nothing was wrong. I confronted her and she lied to me again. Then when that didn’t work for her, she just simply communicated that she did not seem to understand how any of what she was doing was “wrong” in any way. We were traveling out of state so we couldn’t get home to check on our dogs. My father and aunt had to drive from over an hour away to get to our unlocked, abandoned house and dogs to make sure they were OK and to be able to confirm with us over the phone that they were indeed not injured, or missing! Emily did not have any real emergency or excuse for her behavior other than she said that she “does this all the time with all of the other people she sits for on Rover.” - which basically means, she does it all the time (without their pre-approval and or consent to do so). Throughout Emily’s stay with my dogs, her and her friend/mother were opening all of our kitchen cabinets and our fridge and going through basically my whole house which was just not something I wanted, especially with trying to be careful and sensitive about Covid! - which is another point that we had mentioned to her as well several times, before hiring her. This was all just very inappropriate on so many different levels. I felt very violated by this experience and would suggest that any other dog owner who loves and cares for their pet, not hire Emily and to look elsewhere for professional dog care. Emily was sadly, 100% dishonest and frankly very shady. She is young, so I really do hope she learns something from this experience. We are very caring people and we treated her like an adult and with kindness. We treated her like we would treat a friend, because we had genuinely liked her upon our first meeting, but she unfortunately took full advantage of that - which is really disheartening. Respect is earned, not given. I would never hire nor recommend Emily as a dog sitter to anyone we know - or to any of whom we do not know. Regards, Brendan T
Emily is great! Very friendly and responsive. We have had her help out a few times and she has been prompt and responsible.
