Good With All Sizes & Temperments
Pet care experience
I've been working with shelter dogs for the past ten years and have also worked as a foster. I have experience working with dogs of all sizes and tempermants, including dog aggressive dogs, dogs that have never been on leash, and dogs with resource guarding tendencies. I have a degree in biology with a focus on animals and animal behavior. I'm experienced with dog training and have trained my fosters using clicker training and positive reinforcement, including socializing them and getting them used to baths, nail trimmings, brushing, and ear cleaning. I am also skilled at pilling dogs and administering medication. I'm used to working with dogs that have never walked before and am good at working on leash manners and am used to using additional tools such as gentle leaders and harnesses that make walking easier for your pup (and encourage less pulling). I have a full time position that is incredibly flexible and allows me to work from home, and am rarely away from home for more than 2 - 4 hours. I'm free early in the morning (starting aropund 5:30 AM), afternoons, and evenings. Additionally, I am commonly free over weekends. I am an avid runner who will take your dog running with them. When I fostered dogs, they usually got two or three 3 mile walks a day, as well as additional playtime sessions and training sessions throughout the day (plus plenty of cuddles!). I live nearby Forest Park and a dog park, and enjoy going on hikes with dogs. I also live with a roommate who loves dogs.
Reviews
Amazing care taker and great communication! I will definitely book Emily again in the future for my trips. She made the whole process a breeze.
Thank you, Emily for giving my lil babe such a great experience! She was so happy and cared for.
It is so relaxing to know Emily is taking care of my girl while I’m away.
Our dog Vienna loves Emily!

Information Emily M. would like to know about your pet
Before I watch over your pet, I would love to know a bit about them, including the following: - Do they have any food allergies? - What toys do they prefer? - How much exercise do they tend to get in an average day? (I believe in the philosophy that the best dog is a dog tired from a day running and playing, and this will help me figure out the best activities for us to do.) - Do they have any resource guarding tendencies? - Are they dog friendly, dog selective, or dog reactive? What are they like with strangers? (This helps me figure out what routes I should take your dog on so that we don't encounter any stressors for your pup!) - What tools do you use when walking (harness, gentle lead, collar, etc.)?
A typical day
I live near a dog park and Forest Park, so any dog that stays with me will either enjoy a nice long walk or run (I tend to go 3 - 4 miles, though accomidations can be made for elderly or smaller dogs). I can promise multiple sessions of playtime a day, as well as regular training sessions using clickers. I also have numerous interactive feeders at my home, so any dog that stays with us has the option of working and playing for their food. I also tend to go on hikes and am an incredibly active person, so both your pup and I will go to bed exhausted.
