Book a stay at Critter Camp today!

Pet care experience

Hello, we are Emily and Drake! We are eager to care for your pet(s) right alongside our own while they enjoy their stay here at Critter Camp. Looking after your pet(s) is more than just a side gig for us, it is a part of our daily life. Not only do we find it enjoyable to connect with local community members and enable them to pursue their pet-free trips and plans, but we absolutely LOVE being the bridge between you and your pet(s) while you’re away! It warms our hearts to put your worries at ease and make your pet(s) comfortable and happy, just as we would want when we are traveling away from our critters. We truly love this work! Critter Camp is our beautiful 20 acre property tucked away in the remote hills outside of Eugene, OR. The full-time residents of Critter Camp include our ready-to-play Aussie, Stance, as well as our friendly (and dog savvy) cat, Blankenstein. There are also pigs, chickens, and rabbits here year-round, but they are kept in their own corners of the camp and are not allowed to comingle with other residents. The property encompasses orchard, forest and pasture lands, with the perimeter of the property being fully fenced and secure. There are an endless number of places for your curious critter(s) to explore safely here at Critter Camp! Between the two of us we have a long history of experience with animals, from routine care of the family cat to training and rehabilitating show horses. We've cared for our own puppies as well as our dogs on their final day. We've raised baby geese and mended elderly ducks. We've watched many pets of our friends, our family, and strangers for days or months at a time! We are familiar and comfortable with many animal care situations, including adhering to special dietary or behavioral restrictions, administering medications, or other unique care instructions. We understand the patience and attention that can be required to build trust with animals and we enjoy the nuance of building a relationship with each individual critter!

Our pups had a wonderful time with Emily on her little farm. They came home happy and tired.

Can't say enough good things about Emily. She is reliable, honest, trustworthy and an all around good person. I felt totally comfortable having her come by and walk my boys. She also kept me updated on how the walks went. I would highly recommend her! Emily is awesome!

Emily was very professional and friendly. She seemed to immediately have affection for my dog and my dog loved her. Couldn't have asked for a better walker.

Emily took such good care of our critters and our home while we were away. She sent us photos every day and both the dog and the cat looked like they were having a blast. We will definitely book with Emily again!

Safety, trust & environment

Our priorities for your pet(s) are safety and continuity of care! We strive to create an environment where your critter(s) can be just as comfortable and happy as they normally are until you are reunited. We are happy to accommodate for your animal’s unique needs and create a plan specific to your pet(s) care. By default you could expect for your critters to be cared for just as ours are-- with lots of love and attention, fresh snacks from the garden, and the perfect balance of running around and lazing about! Please feel free to ask us any questions and we will do our best to respond promptly.

Information Emily M. would like to know about your pet

We like to know about their normal routines including meal times, bathroom habits, and exercise levels! It is also important to know what they like/don’t like (other animals, types of play, treats, etc) and any commands they might know. Finally, it's nice to know if they have any particularly challenging behaviors and the best way we can work with those behaviors!

A typical day

A typical day for a dog would involve a good morning belly rub or head scratch followed by a much anticipated bowl of breakfast. After that it would be time to head outside to do chores around Critter Camp and play fetch, tug of war, or chew on a tasty stick. The rest of the day would be spent napping on the couch, sniffing a mysterious patch of grass, working on basic training, or playing with some other dogs! If you and your dog are comfortable with it we would occasionally make trips away from camp into town, hiking, to the dog park, etc.

Every day for us begins and ends with a trip outside to take care of all of the critters! We are both home most of the time, so pet care is integrated with our entire day. There could be an impromptu belly-rub or games of fetch at any time!
