I'm a professional ballet dancer who has also been a part-time childcare provider for the past 8 years. Two of the families I've worked for have had dogs. For 2 years, I was partially responsible for the care of a golden retriever. Then for 2.5 years I was partially responsible for the care of three dogs, all of them small- to medium-sized rescues. For the second family, I often stayed in their home when they were on vacation and looked after the dogs (along with three cats and several smaller animals). This family also regularly fostered an additional 1-2 dogs at a time, and I learned a lot about how to approach and deal with dogs who have anxiety or a history of abuse.
