I have lived with furry companions my entire life. Up until recently my family home had 2 cats, a 10-year-old Labrador, a 6 month old labradoodle and a horse. My husband Cody and I recently bought a house of our own and put in a brand spankin' new SIX FOOT privacy fence -- this means ALOT of room to play and burn off some steam. We also have two cats, who have experienced a myriad of different dogs coming through our doors. Each stay is a bit different, but they'll either submissively hide away or become affectionate depending on the dog we are hosting. My husband and I are comfortable with all sizes, breeds and ages. I am also especially aware of how to be attentive to dogs with injuries or old age ailments. I have recent experience with oral medication as well as twice daily insulin shots. Dog breeds we've recently enjoyed caring for: Mastiff, four Retriever mixes, Chow mix, four Pomeranians, Beagle, Rhodesian Ridgeback, West Highland White Terrier, hound mix, German Shepherd mix, Boxer mix, Labradoodle, Yorkipoo, Jack Russell Terrier mix and two Weimaraners. Although we own our home, another couple lives with us, which just means they'll get twice as much attention. I also have never had "out of bounds" areas for my pets - they're more than welcome to lay on the couches or stay in my bedroom, etc. Our favorite part of hosting dogs is just that it can be plain old fun to experience so many breeds and personalities -- we've become quite attached to our repeat visitors! That being said, if your home as certain rules or routines I will make sure we stick to it! My neighborhood has light traffic, sidewalks and park trails, so if your dog is up to it there's plenty of places to go for a walk.
