LMU CVM c'o 2028 Vet Student

Pet care experience

UPDATING PROFILE DETAILS IN PROGRESS AFTER A YEAR LONG PETSITTING BREAK FOR SCHOOL AND VET SCHOOL APPLICATIONS Nov 9 2023 @ 2:24 PM CT Thanks for your patience!! PROMO CODE: $20 off for first-time Rover users!!! EMILYH23876 As an experienced dog-walker and sitter, I understand that everyone's needs are different, and I am ready to tailor an experience for you and your pets! I offer dog walking, sitting/home drop-ins, and additional services such as basic grooming and house-care. I am doing this job for experience, exercise, a small source of income, and also just because I enjoy being around animals! Originally from Huntsville, I am now located in Auburn Spring/Fall semesters to study Pre-Veterinary Animal Science. Nowadays, I work seasonally as a veterinary assistant and kennel tech in Huntsville while I continue pet sitting year-around. Lots of experience from volunteering contributed to making me qualified for this job and for looking after your pets! In Huntsville, I will have volunteered in an animal hospital for over 500 hours by the end of summer. I gave over 100 hours to my Equestrian Center's nonprofit and to the local animal shelter, from which I also took on a pre-op foster-dog. This past summer, my family took on and adopted out a second foster dog. If you have reptiles or birds, you can be confident that my volunteering in Auburn’s raptor rehabilitation has prepared me for them as well. From doing this work, I can assure you that I have experience with all kinds of species, breeds, and personalities. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I grew up with several pets in my own home. Home was the first place where I learned to love and understand animals. I have two family dogs, a cat, and small pets in Huntsville, as well as an Irish Wolfhound mix and a cat in Auburn. I ride on Auburn’s IHSA equestrian team. It's a whole zoo over here. I will care for your pets as if they are my own. My life will always revolve around animals, (despite my allergies!) With the experience and intuition I have gained so far from immersing myself in these activities, I can assure you that I will take good care of your fur-babies, whatever the task may be. I will go above and beyond expectations, to the best of my ability, in order to make sure your pets are happy and comfortable and that you come back to a home as good or even better than it was when you left it. Hire me and you won’t be disappointed! Tips are appreciated but never expected. I can be decently flexible and work around classes! Please feel free to contact me and I will try my best to work something out! Auburn: I generally do NOT take boarders in my home, but in the cases I can make an exception, my house is very well-equipped for dogs, because I have one of my own! I do have a cat but she can be separated in another part of the house.

Emily is amazing!!! This was our first time using Rover. I was so nervous, but Emily ended up being amazing. We were gone for almost two weeks. During Emily stent in watching our cats, our worst fear became reality. One of our cats needed to go to the ER vet. Without Emily's watchful eyes, we would have never known in of our cats was ill. It was a scary time and we almost had to put our cat down while we were out of town, but because Emily was so attentive we were able to give our cat a little extra time and he pulled through. Our cat's illness wasn't anything Emily did wrong. It ended up being acute pancreatitis. I highly recommend having Emily watch your pets, she it amazing and will make a great vet one day!

This was our first time using Rover. We have generally taken our pups with us or gotten family or friends to come house sit and take care of Sibby and Paddy. Well, with Emily, it was even a step up. She knows about animals and their behaviors, foods and picky eaters. While sitting, she takes pictures, sends them to let you know all is well. We had a wonderful experience with Emily and I know our dogs did too. They were happy and not stressed! Thank you Emily!

Emily is wonderful! I have an almost 20 yr old Dachshund and she took great care of him when we had an unexpected death and had to go out of town. Emily took awesome care of him, my 2 cats and our house. I wish she was here full time! Highly recommend her!!

Emily was super great! She communicated well with us and sent us pictures. I had a hard time leaving Lily & Oscar behind and accepting I needed a sitter. Emily made me feel super comfortable being away from home and knowing that they were taken care of.

When we meet to discuss procedures, I take thorough notes just like I do for class. I will study and bring these along when caring for your home and pets. When I enter your home for petsitting, rest assured that I will pay close attention to detail and take care of every task you ask of me to the best of my ability. I am not afraid to clean when I think it is necessary or beneficial, and strive to leave your home and anything I use in the same or better condition than it was when I encountered it. I will let dogs out to potty as directed and clean any litter boxes or crates at least daily or as directed. I will feed your pets with extra care and be mindful of their behavior and intake. Water is the most important substance for the body, so it is of top priority for me to provide plenty of fresh water and monitor water intake as well. I like to provide extra containers in case one becomes empty or gets spilled. Perhaps the best part about home pet sitting is your pets comfort and one-on-one enrichment. I have seen some pretty awful boarding kennels! I strive to make your pet feel as secure, comfortable, and happy as possible during my stay and will take the time to understand each one’s individual needs in order to tailor my care to them! From a run around the block to a nap on the couch, I aim to provide whatever will make your pet happy while you are away.

Information Emily H. would like to know about your pet

What would I like to know about your pet beforehand? -most of the information that should be in your pet’s profile, such as name, breed, age, weight, socialization, potty training, emercency contact, etc... -preferences for walking, such as which collar/harness/lead to use, where to walk, how long (if needing a shorter/longer distance) -favorite toys and play -treats -any medical conditions, special needs, medications -quirks -if you want grooming Do I have any breed preferences? No! I like dogs of all sizes. I’d walk your lizard or your horse if you wanted me to. I can handle dogs of most sizes—so long as they do not have severe aggression issues. Please allow me to meet your pets at a meet-and-greet first so we can determine if I am a good fit to be your sitter/walker.

A typical day

BONUS: Expect some beautiful photographs of your pet(s) in your Rover card!! Check out some photos of my recent clients to see for yourself!! If any of my photos are post-worthy, please remember to tell your friends about my business! I always carry water and healthy treats (if given permission) on walks, and I am very adamant about picking up and properly disposing of waste. Before walks, I will always check harnesses and collars so that they are correctly fit. My walking standards still apply when I take dogs outside for a bathroom break during drop-ins. Note that these walks are much shorter than separately booked walks. I still have to work in a roughly 30 minute time span. For drop-in visits, just let me know any preferences you have (playing, cuddling, treats, feeding, potty breaks, medication, grooming, etc...) If your dog has any special needs or quirks, please tell me all about them!! I will do my best to accommodate. I will gladly look after cats (charged - less than dogs) as well as any other *small* critters or plants in the house (i.e. I’m not gonna charge to feed your fish while I’m there taking care of the furry pets.)
