Pet and Plant Care

Pet care experience

I work with plants as a horticulturist. If you have plants of any kind, whether potted or in the ground, from bonsai to cacti to vegetables, I will care for them with earnest dedication. Rover doesn't provide an option for plant care, so please reach out via any of the options available and we can discuss a schedule and pricing from there. Plant care rates are dependent on the number and type of plants you have, and your distance from my location. Pet Care: My background in pet care started early; I grew up with several medium/large dogs, and we also had a cat, birds, fish, and mice as pets over the years. When I went to college, I started taking care of friends' pets while they were away, and enjoyed it so much that in 2017 I decided to join Rover as a pet sitter. I've been pet sitting on and off ever since, and have met some of the most adorable, goofy, intelligent animals along the way. Whatever species your companion may be, I will treat them like that one old friend who you rarely see, but you always pick up right where you left off.

Emily is absolutely wonderful. She is professional, patient, attentive, listens to the owner about the smallest details and follows through. She is soft and kind in spirit and you'll have no doubts that your fur babies at home are okay with her. She sends photos and updates each day. I can't say enough good things about her.

Emily is a considerate and attentive pet-sitter! She clearly read all of the care instructions and asked thoughtful questions on our final walk-through before our trip. She texted regular updates with photos, and was quick to let us know if anything was awry. (Our dog chewed up some things we had left out, which was no fault of Emily's.) Our flight home was delayed and as I was sitting on the tarmac in a panic about what we would do if things were delayed further, Emily was understanding and offered help that went above and beyond. We ultimately didn't need her additional assistance but I really appreciated her willingness to step in if it had been needed.

Emily was awesome! Due to schedules, we were not able to meet her until the morning she was coming to stay at our house for the weekend with our dog and 2 cats. The pets loved her instantly and she was very communicative all weekend with lots of picture updates! Would absolutely recommend her and will use her again!

It was our first time using a house sitter so we were nervous leaving Bella with anyone, but Emily was absolutely amazing with her. After the first update and photo Emily sent I immediately felt at ease. Bella got sick in the middle of the night and Emily stayed up with her despite having a morning obligation. We were so grateful for her amazing care during that situation, I wasn't worried knowing Emily had it under control. We rebooked her immediately, twice!

Safety, trust & environment

Plants will be cared for precisely according to your instructions. Safety is of utmost importance with pets, and I keep a close eye to make sure your buddies don't get into anything they shouldn't. We don't interact with strangers on walks, and no one enters your home aside from me. Dogs will always be leashed outside of your property. I treat your home better than my own; it takes trust for you to let into your space and I respect that.

Information Emily F. would like to know about your pet

Plants: I appreciate a thorough explanation of your usual care routine. Nothing makes a plant sad quite like sudden changes, so keeping things consistent is key. This is especially important if you have fussy plants like bonsai; they're high maintenance but we love them for it! Pets: Tell me about all the things that make your pet unique: Are they highly food motivated? What's their favorite toy? Do they have any triggers while walking, e.g. do they bolt after squirrels, or get scared when sirens pass? Is there a specific spot on the couch that they like best? Are they down for ear scritches but hate having their paws touched? Every animal has quirks; the more you tell me about your pet, the better our time together will be!

A typical day

As a benefit of my job at the arboretum, I am familiar with the busy times of day and the layout of the property. If your dog is good with car rides, I can take them there for an adventure. Otherwise, we will stick to your usual routes.
