Dogs Are People Too
Pet care experience
From 1 to 33 dogs at a time, I've done it all. I've had dogs my whole life, and have had my 13 year old sheltie, Shay, since she was 8 weeks old. Moose was an addition in October 2018 and is a very hyper, playful, and fast pup who would love visitors willing to tolerate her. I have experience house/dog sitting for friends/family (ranging in ages from ~6 months to senior, and in size from <10lb to 120+lb) and also as a job (taking care of 33 working sled dogs including managing specialty diets/medication/exercise routines). I have experience caring for disabled dogs (blind, deaf, terminal illness, and those with limited mobility). I am also willing and able to provide training continuation/consistency with your rules for your dog while I have them. My husband (David) and I are both seasonal wildlife biologists, who are home up to 5-6 days a week for the fall-winter and would love to care for your dog while you're away! I am currently working most days of most weeks but David has the same experience as me and is available for bookings. Some of our favorite places to take Shay and Moose around Redding include Turtle Bay East Open Space at Bechelli, the Sundial Bridge trails, and Sacramento River trail.
Reviews
She did great working with me last minute to go let them out to go potty and play in the yard.
Emily has watched our dog Rosie a few times, and has done an amazing job. She is a great communicator, sends updates, is reliable, and creates a joyful environment for our dog.
Emily took great care of Sadie, our 12 year old Wheaton. Sadie came home clean and happy. Emily took her on walks and adventures; sent up photos and status reports. She even made a small watercolor picture of Sadie. We highly recommend Emily!
Emily was lovely! Her energy is calm, kind, and matter-of-fact-- which is perfect for my emotional pup! I got photo updates of Luca's daily walks and adventures, and a lovely watercolored portrait of her at the end.

Information Emily C. would like to know about your pet
I need to now how your doggo behaves around others both on/off leash, if s/he has any restrictions for being out and about, and generally how well trained your dog is prior to meeting you and your pupper. This is especially important for overnight stays. All breeds/sizes welcome for walks/drop in visit time. Please let me know what commands/hand signals you use with your dog as well.
A typical day
Some of our favorite places to take Shay around Redding include Turtle Bay East Open Space at Bechelli, the Sundial Bridge trails, and Sacramento River trail, as well as on hiking trails to waterfalls and lakes. If you have other favorite spots with your dog we'd love to discover them. If your dog is into fetch, I will happily play fetch with him/her too.
