Pet care experience
Hi! I’m Emily and I have the best job in the world! I work with humans and dogs to create a strong foundation built on trust, guidance, respect, and leadership. Backstory: I mentored with a veterinarian through high school, and I was so blessed to get incredible hands on skills medically caring for dogs and cats (and even some hamsters and birds)! Due to this, I’m very comfortable with the often not-so-pretty side to dirty messes and medical needs. If you have a pet with special needs, let’s chat about how we can keep them the most comfortable and cared for in my home! I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies before moving overseas. There, I ran an animal rescue, overseeing the care and fostering of about 100 cats and dogs at a time, many of which I helped foster. Once stateside, I decided to continue working with animals and add in “human” training. I began training basic obedience and correcting behaviors for puppy and adult dogs, and I also worked with psychiatric service dogs. Throughout this, most owners I spoke with felt THEY were the ones lacking knowledge, and so I’ve adapted my training and care to the needs of ALL family members. Turns out, my degree wasn’t for nothing ;) About our family: I have two wonderful stepsons, three dogs, and three kitties that make our family wild and so lovely. We are an outdoorsy family, and we all take part in the care of the animals. Our kiddos have grown up learning to respect pets’ boundaries, and we are well versed in the proper introduction for the safety of all. I can’t wait to hear about your family and how we can best serve your pet care and training needs!
Reviews
I honestly do not know where to begin. Upon our initial Meet and Greet, I’m sure Emily must have thought I was a complete basket case and in over my head with two Dalmatians, (one of which is an "Anxious Annie" with behavioral “quirks”) and a VERY curious 2-year-old in toe. Emily approached my chaos with nothing but complete ease and confidence. She exudes patients, understanding, is completely competent, accommodating, and willing to make recommendations based on experience. One of my dogs is extremely high maintenance and the complete definition of everything people shy away from when it comes to Dalmatians. Upon meeting Emily, I was seriously considering rehoming him. After a month and half with Emily and implementing Emily's suggestions I have seen progress and have gained understanding which has helped my work with him. I can finally take an enjoyable walk around my neighborhood and equipped to manage stressful situations because Emily has taken the time to "train" me as well. That is just the beginning. There just is not enough space in the box for me to ramble on about how much I appreciate Emily and quite literally her Family and her animals as they have all adjusted their days when my two crazies are with them. Not only does Emily care for my fur babies as if they were her own, but her Husband and adorable boys do as well. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they are taken care of and I pick up happy pups at the end of the day. I highly recommend Emily and I am so happy I found her!!!
She is the best. Went well above my expectations. Very pleased.
Emily is extremely knowledgeable about animals and their needs, her thoughts are always with them and their well-being. Emily has extensive experience with all types of animals, from cats to dogs to horses, and I have always had a lot of confidence in her ability to take good care of my pets. She is an excellent pet sitter and it is therefore a pleasure to recommend her.
Emily was a fantastic resource helping me with my two, 1 year-old lab brothers. She took time to explain things to me and provide training for me and for my dogs. When away at her house for training they were both treated like part of her family. My charcoal lab excited to see her even with a six month gap between visits.
