Pet care experience
I work in a hybrid office (remote two days/week) and have found that dogs make the best assistants when working from home. I commute downtown on the bus, so in-office days can be unpredictable. For this reason, depending on the date, I’ll either be home with your pet(s) all day or will be gone for long stretches! My schedule can be flexible, but some seasons are busier than others, so booking in advance is best. I had Golden Retrievers growing up - big, affectionate, needy dogs. I have since cared for everything from mixes to Yorkies to mastiffs and have loved them all. Since travel can be worrisome for your furry friend, I try to do whatever I can to ease the stress for dogs, whether that’s simply minimizing disruption to their routine or showing them a little extra love. I love taking dogs on walks, because it means that I get to be outside, too! I am happiest when house- AND dog-sitting but am available for drop-in visits and walks, too. I'd be glad to take dogs on social outings if requested. I have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and needs and look forward to meeting your pup!
Reviews
Emily was a wonderful pet/house-sitter! She communicated well and sent lots of photos and updates, which are always appreciated. Our one dog, Franklin, is a little more skeptical of strangers and Emily was very patient with him and his quirks :) We'd highly recommend her and will definitely be booking with her in the future!
Emily was fantastic! This was my first time using Rover and working with Emily and I could not be more pleased. Emily was loving of my pup, and kept me up to date regularly (who doesn’t love getting pics of their pup while they’re away?!). And less important but worth noting, she took great care of our house and left it exactly as she found it. I will definitely be looking to book Emily again soon! Thanks, Emily!
My cat Quinn doesn’t usually take to strangers—but Quinn seemed to not only tolerate, but actually *enjoy* Emily’s company! Emily sent me a detailed overview of everything that Quinn was up to during her visit, including cute pictures :) It’s so reassuring to know that Emily is taking the best care of my girl while I’m away. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter in the area!
We felt at ease when Emily stayed with our 10 month old great dane pup and 7 year old Border Aussie. I got pictures everyday we were gone and the dogs were happy and relaxed when we got home. Bonus points for the house being clean when we got home! We are hopeful to have Emily care for our pets and home again!

Safety, trust & environment
I always try to meet the animals with the owners present before agreeing to any booking. I also appreciate a (masked) home visit to get a run-down of routines like bringing in the mail, plant watering, and general upkeep of things. I provide daily updates and pictures of your animals and always let clients know if I have plans to be gone for more than an hour or two. I only invite pre-approved guests, if any, and try to treat owners’ homes as if they are my own!
Information Emily B. would like to know about your pet
I want to know their eating and sleeping habits, whether or not they are crate-trained, any special medical attention they require, and how well they typically get along with other dogs. I'd also like to know how well they are house-trained and how long they can hold it so that I can be sure to let them out on time! If they are learning any commands, let me know, and I'll be sure to practice with them.
A typical day
We will walk on the sidewalks and run and play off-leash in a nearby dog park if your dog is used to that. We can spend time outside at bars and/or restaurants if that is a priority for your dog. If staying in, I love to play fetch or tug in the house and will groom and clean as needed. If your dog is older or not as active, we’ll relax on the couch while I read or watch TV. (Of course, I let cats dictate their own schedule.)

Availability
I generally work 9-5, but I can make time for a midday walk or play break when I’m home! I’ll likely leave your pets alone briefly to go to the gym or run an errand here and there, but I’ll give them extra attention when I return. When I’m in the office, I’ll be gone for up to 9-10 hours, though I’ll do my best not to leave them that long. I’m more of a night owl and prefer not to rise early. That said, I try to adjust to pets’ schedules as best as I can.
