About Sitter: My name is Emily, and welcome to my Rover page! I finalized my Ph.D. from Iowa State University in Animal Science this previous summer, and my background stems in both ruminant and monogastric nutrition. I am fully trained to specialize and formulate your pets diets. I also have been trained in food and feed safety. Experience: I have had a multitude experiences with dogs and cats, as I owned both growing up. We owned a variety of breeds (Pitbull Mixes, Labrador Retrievers, Brittany Spaniels, Maltese, and Golden Retrievers). I also have experience with livestock (cattle, pigs, and poultry) as well as horses. I currently own two fur babies of my own - an Australian Shepherd named Kash and an Akita named Bubba. Lastly, I have worked at the prestigious Iowa State Small Animal Medical Center, where I have been trained for medical emergencies. My network includes multiple veterinarian friends & three veterinarians in my immediate family who can always help with any concerns. Dog walking/Drop Ins: I am a very active person, and I am very communicative/responsible. I can provide you with as many updates as you wish with your fur babies, as I would want the same for mine! I strive to give the best care for each individual animal to make them happy and comfortable during their walks and drop-in care. I currently live with my husband, Dillon, and we would love to provide exercise and care for your companion. I am committed to your pets and would love to help wherever I am needed. I am comfortable walking in all sorts of weather - rain, snow, etc.

Emily was the best! She took such good care of our two kitties. Our older cat is needing some dental work, and she kept a close eye on him and gave him pain meds when he seemed in pain. We came home to very happy cats! We would definitely recommend Emily to anyone looking for someone to care for their fur babies while away and will be using her again ourselves!
Emily is wonderful! I 100% recommend her, by far the best with my very sassy cat! She gave Lucy much needed affection and playtime while I was away!! Emily took the time to get to know Lucy on the meet and greet, asked plenty of questions and accommodated all of Lucy’s daily quirks! And there are a lot!! Thank again Emily, you’re the best!!
I made a great decision when I selected Emily to care for my pup. She was prompt on service, ease to get a hold of, very responsive and also descriptive in her daily reports on the rover app. As a first time user, I was a little skeptical about letting a stranger into my home while I was away, but during the meet and greet Emily displayed a level of professionalism and trustworthiness which made me feel so.much.more. comfortable about the situation. I expressed my pups needs, behavior, and other small details and Emily was sure to pick up and touch bases with me on each one of those things during her visits. I will definitely be using her services when on travel going forward.. Thanks Emily!!

Breed Preferences: I do not have any breed preferences, as I do not discriminate against any breed. I am happy with all breeds, sizes, and activity levels! What I would like to know? 1. Does your pet have medication needs? 2. What is their typical feeding schedule, food/treat allergies, and what their favorite treat and activity is? 3. Does your fur baby have any "quirks" or "triggers" that would be useful information (ex: do not like or scared of)? 4. Does your dog get along well with other dogs/cats? 5. Does your pet have separation anxiety/how can I ease it? I still would love to help with your pet! It is just useful information to know prior to make sure to keep your pup safe and comfortable during the walk or drop - in visit. 6. What else can I do to ensure your pet has a safe and happy experience?
A typical day
Walking/Hiking/Running: I am available to drive your pets to local places when there is an established relationship (after meet/greet, etc.) I can walk your dog wherever you want/need me too (around your house, hiking, running, you name it). I personally love hiking so if your pooch needs to burn some energy, I can do that for you. I also am an avid runner, so if you do have a hyper dog, I can exercise with him/her. You can also expect lots of cuddles and butt scratches! :) Other Enrichment: I am big with mental stimulation for dogs as well, so I am happy to provide enrichment such as kong treats, puzzle toys, play hide-and-seek, etc. I love to play ball and frisbee as well! My Australian Shepherd is a very active boy and loves other dogs, so if you want to set up a group play session, I am more than willing.

Availability
Flexibility with Schedule: I commute to Ames twice a week (Monday/Thursday) for my current position, so those days are generally unavailable. However, I am available for the remaining days, either in the mornings, midafternoon, or evenings due to flexibility with working from home.
