I keep to a pretty set schedule and times for feeding and walks. I never take a dog out without a leash unless trained for things like fetch outside otherwise play can happen within the house. I live on eight acres of property, there is no traffic or close neighbors so it's safer for outside activities. If I do take a more public walk with a pup I like to keep them short leash close and on the inside of the sidewalk so they aren't near any possible cars at all. I almost never leave the home so I pretty much always am there to care for cats and dogs and keep a close eye on things. Nothing is left out ever that they can get into or cause any harm to themselves in anyway at all.
