Sunshine and Doggos

Pet care experience

I’ve been running a dog boarding business for six years out of my home! I started in when I lived in Florida and am taking it back up now I am settled in the LA County Area. Aside from being a preschool teacher, caring for animals in this way has been one of the most rewarding and joyful things I have found to professionally occupy my time. No matter where I am located, I will continue to board and daycare. Children and animals are my passion in life. My schedule revolves around each individual pet’s needs and wants. One doggie may not want to do the same things as another, so I follow their lead. Each pet has differing personalities, and adjusting to care for them is not only my job but where all of the joy of the profession comes from! I’m here to spoil them and I love every minute of it. I like to get as much of a comprehensive understanding of how you know your pet before the stay begins, so I can better meet their needs. It can often be anxiety-inducing and confusing for pets to be away from their families, so getting to know their quirks and likes and dislikes, as well as what their daily rituals look like at home, allows me to better provide a sense of normalcy and comfort for them! This can often look like making sure they have their own space in my home with their bed/crate and familiar scents to retreat to, sticking to any established feeding schedules, and engaging in any playtime that families know the pet really enjoys. I am there to intuitively meet their needs as safe and fun company while their families are enjoying their vacations, or working hard to bring the kibble home on their business-related trips. Depending on the doggie’s personality I will either refrain from booking dogs from multiple families for the same dates, or go ahead and do so to provide everyone with more socialization and playtime. I prefer to keep only two dogs at a time. If you know best how your dog may react to others, if they would prefer to be alone or the company of humans, or if they soak up the time of doggie friends, let me know in consultation so we can arrange for them to be set up for maximum happiness!

She took such good care of him. He was truly happy. And I’m very grateful she loved on him like we would ?

Had a wonderful experience with this sitter for daycare! Kept me updated with lots of pictures throughout the day and was prompt in responding when I initially booked. My dog was happily tired after playing at daycare.

Information Elsa T. would like to know about your pet

I always want to know what your concerns and needs are as owner in addition to what you have to share about your sweet pup before booking a stay. Knowledge of communication expectations, pick up and drop off dates and times, emergency contact info, and planning for any behavioral scenarios involving your pet (ex. what you believe would help the most if they are inconsolable after your departure; any history of phobias or general anxieties with your pet) are always discussed before scheduling so I can best take care of them and make sure we are a good fit for one another! While it’s impossible for me to know your dog like you know your dog, I like to try my best to get as close of an understanding of their personality as possible; this will ensure we can make the most out of our time together!

A typical day

The goal in each day is to have fun together and give them a cozy place to rest, whatever that looks like for each dog! I have so much fun adapting to each pup’s ideal day-in-the life. I’ve had dogs who just want to be held all day, so we do exactly that! Some pups really need an outlet to get their energy out. Lucky for me, this means I have more hiking and playtime buddies. I’ve watched pups who were down to do anything and just happy to go with the flow of others, as well as the sad doggo who couldn’t pry themself away from the front door or windows to wait for mom to come back. I’m there to do everything I can to distract them from any distress and engage in what they need. Of course after any good time, a good snooze is obligatory. Blankets and beds in every cozy spot, and my lap are all available!
