Active household for energetic dogs

Pet care experience

Hi there! I am an avid dog lover, having grown up surrounded by them. I trained my childhood dog in the exciting sport of dog agility. As well as taking care of my own dog, I dog-sat for family friends on a regular basis. Additionally, the first job I ever had was working in the boarding facility of a local veterinary clinic. I am comfortable with all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments! These days, I share my apartment with my boyfriend of 2 years, Ian, and our 1.5 year old rescue dog, Murphy. All 3 of us look forward to making your dog feel at home!

Ellen and her crew are awesome! Murphy is a sweet and welcoming dog, and Ellen is an assertive and highly capable dog owner! I know my dogs had a great time there... the pictures say it all! Big happy dog grins all around - I would highly recommend Ellen and plan to use her again the next time we're in Pittsburgh! Thank you!!

Ellen and Lan are the best! Super sweet and easy to communicate with. I received photos and updates while I was away. They brought Bailey to the park which I know she loved. Thanks for an awesome first stay, I will definitely be booking with Ellen in the future.

This was our first time using Rover and we were so happy we tried it out. Our dog, Olive, only stayed two nights with Ellen and Ian, but they kept our dog very busy. Olive went to the park twice and got daily walks. I could tell Olive and Murphy got along great because of all the photos she sent us. We felt 100% safe leaving our pup with Ellen and Ian and would definitely use them again!

Information Ellen T. would like to know about your pet

We are open to having any breed of dog stay with us. Before we welcome your dog into our home, we would like to know any unique behaviors your dog may have. Are there parts of his body he does not like being touched? Is he afraid of thunder? Does he have any allergies or health issues? Does he love to chase squirrels? Anything you can tell us to help us best take care of your pet, we want to know!

A typical day

During your dog's stay, he will do all the things our dog does. Murphy is a 1.5 year old collie/shepherd mix, so if his exercise routine is not enough to keep your pooch tired and happy, I will be thoroughly impressed! We walk all over Regent Square. Additionally, we are a 4 minute walk to Frick Park, which houses miles of trails to explore and two fenced in dog parks. Generally speaking, Ian and I have normal 8-5 schedules, although my days can be shorter depending on my classes. I come home during my lunch break every day to go on a midday walk. Our evenings and weekends are wide open and devoted to dog time! On most days, we spend an hour in the off leash area of Frick Park. I believe that this opportunity to run around and play with other dogs is invaluable. My boyfriend and I are both runners, so if your pup can keep up, we would love to have him come along on our daily runs. As you can tell, in this household, we subscribe to the belief that a tired dog is a happy dog! We want your dog to be happy when you pick him up. That's why we will keep him moving. We also want YOU to be happy when you pick up your pup. That's why we offer homecoming baths, free of charge! There is nothing like coming home to a tired, happy, and clean dog!
