Pet care experience
We got our first family dog, a West Highland Terrier, when I was about 10 years old. I fell in love straight away. Throughout my teenage years I had a hands on role with training and caring for her. I then in my later teens would be trusted with her and family friends dogs. My parents would go away or their friends or family would - I was always the one they’d ask first to help out. During lockdown a friend of mine with an autistic child asked if I’d be able to help look after her dog for a few days/nights so she can focus all her attention on her child who was struggling in lockdown. Her Spaniel had just turned one and was very hyperactive, I felt my firm tone and praise for good behaviour showed an improvement in behaviour quickly as I was able to give her my full attention. Since then my friend has reached out and asked me to dog sit for her again. The past couple of years I’ve regularly looked after a dog called Jess, an older Jack Russell, who unfortunately had a stroke three years ago. She is generally well, sadly one leg never recovered fully, but the vet has assured her owner her quality of life is good and she’s in no pain. I understood the great responsibility her owners give me by trusting me to look after her, sometimes for ten days at a time whilst they’re away. I have been the first person they’ve trusted to look after her and I take pride in that they now feel comfortable enough for it to be a regular thing. From the experience of having a family dog for 17 years and looking after Jess I feel comfortable looking after older dogs, administering medication and confident keeping up with the needs of a young pup as well! I always treat pets with love as if they were my own but follow instruction of the owner without hesitation as this is what I’d expect from a dog sitter.
Reviews
Freddie had a fun day with Ellana, and her communication was great 😊
Ellana is great with Geoff. He’s pleased to see her which is a good sign that he’s happy spending time with her. Ellana is easy to communicate with. She sends photos so I can see Geoff looking relaxed. I will use her again and would happily recommend her.
Geoff had a lovely stay. He was well taken care of and seemed happy to go with Ellie. I will definitely use her again to have him to stay when I go away.
Ellie was BRILLIANT with my anxious rescue dog, Peanut. He took to her immediately, she sent me lots of amazing photos, which was so reassuring. Cannot recommend her enough. I would definitely use her again as and when I'm going away. THANK YOU ELLIE. x

I live in a one bedroom flat, with a good size garden with grass. I’ve had a few visiting dogs roam the garden without any issues, but I’d always keep an eye on any pets out there. I’m happy to send owners pictures to put their mind at ease that their dog is safe and happy if they would like this. There will be no other pets staying whilst a dog is there and sofa dogs are more than welcome!

Information Ellana G. would like to know about your pet
I think it’s important to know of usual routines or patterns of behaviour, for example meal/walk times and sleeping arrangements. Any allergies or medical info, characteristics, how they interact with other animals and any triggers they might have or simply a favourite toy they might have.
A typical day
A part of what I enjoy when looking after a dog is learning their personality, so you can work out what they enjoy. I live within walking distance to parks, a short drive away from the beach and have a garden to play in. If they’re playful I’m more than happy to play with them and go for longer walks to use up energy. Sofa dogs are also welcome - whatever the dogs personality the day will usually end with a calm environment to snooze in.

I currently work for the NHS full time, partly from home and sometimes in the office. I have weekends free and can adapt my working pattern during the week to suit a dogs needs and prioritise them. Having the company of a dog when working from home is a huge reason I’ve signed up for Rover.
