Pet care experience
I grew up around dogs and cats, and had a lot of responsibility for my family’s beagle basset and our cat. As an adult, I have also regularly dog sat for family and friends. I particularly like working with Australian shepherds and other mid-size, active breeds but love all dogs. I was raised to be observant and sensitive to pets’ needs, and try to use a combination of that sensitivity and plain common sense when caring for animals. When I care for dogs, I walk them at least three times a day (and take them out 2-3 times more for potty breaks). I try to walk all dogs a minimum of an hour a day, and more active dogs a minimum of 2 hours per day. That typically means 15-30 minutes in the morning, 15-30 minutes at lunch or early afternoon and an hour in the evening. On Saturday mornings, I’ll take an active dog for 2-3 hours. I also play with them outside the walks (do this more with less active dogs since they don’t walk as much). This does all depend on heat/cold - I won’t walk dogs as far if they are uncomfortable or at risk of heat stroke because of the weather. When I care for cats, I try to play with them 15-30 minutes per day and spend a couple hours petting them or at least in the same room as them if they are not the most cuddly. I can be in contact as much or as little as you like! I know some owners want updates a few times a day while others just want a photo a day. Please let me know what’s best for you! Right now, I live in an apartment where dogs are not allowed, so I will be coming to you! Please see the notes above to get a sense of how I will care for them :)
Reviews
Ella is wonderful and always keeps me updated. Lots of great couch cuddle pictures during the overnight stays :)
Ella was so wonderful! It was nice to meet in advance and I felt trust immediately. She took care of LeVar Purrton this last week and stayed at my place. I received lovely updates and my place is spotless. Looking forward to having her over again!
Ella did a great job with Maggie and Alphonse. She kept us informed of how they were doing, made sure that they had what they are used to and after the couple days away from them, they seemed as relaxed as usual!
Ella is an amazing dog sitter. We had last minute plans to Montreal and she took him in! She sent us videos and pictures every couple hours and showed how happy Snowie was! shh he was sleeping half the time. Would definitely recommend her!

Information Ella J. would like to know about your pet
I like to know how they normally live, whether walks are free range or they’re expected to heel, if they like getting out into nature or city smells, if there are certain things that make them uncomfortable (men, sudden movements, other dogs). The sorts of things that owners know without thinking because they spend so much time with their pup.
A typical day
On a weekday morning, we’ll typically go for a short walk right around the neighborhood right when I wake up. Then, breakfast and chilling out for a bit. I might take a mid morning break to play with them. Then a walk at lunch. Depending on when I finish work, I might take them for a longer walk right away or a short one, then a long one after dinner. I typically try to get them to a park or lake on the evening walk, somewhere nature-y. I always make sure they get out one more time before bed.
