Pet care experience
I’ve been surrounded by animals since the minute I was born, although I would say I actually started to help out with their care when I was about 11 years old. I now have 3 dogs of my own, volunteer at Austin Animal Center as a dog walker, foster cats, currently enrolled at ACC working towards a degree in Veterinary Technology, and have partaken in online seminars regarding herbal animal medicine. As a vet, I see myself working with homeopathic and integrative medicine, as well as western medicine when needed. I have experience administering medication to both dogs and cats, handling pups with behavioral or emotional roadblocks, raising puppies and kittens, caring for older dogs with arthritis or other medical setbacks, heartworm positive dogs, epileptic dogs, and extremely energetic dogs (I would love to take them on a run with me around the neighborhood!). I have completed and been certified in CPR and First Aid through American Red Cross. I pride myself in being extremely organized, cleanly, and responsible. As the years go by, I find myself becoming more and more passionate about animals and their rights; I believe that animals & humans are equals and should be treated as such, and that as humans, we are responsible for speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Rest assured, your animal will be treated as if it were my own, and I've been told that my dogs "will never see a bad day in their lives." And that is the best compliment I have ever received. My dream/life goal is to start my own rescue farm for dogs, cats, horses, and the like.
Reviews
Ella was incredible with our 2 pups. Lots of pictures over the weekend and they were happy as clams. 10/10 would recommend!
Ella was great. My puppy is only 6 months old and can be a handful, she sent me updates everyday which calmed my anxiety about leaving him, and I came back to a happy and calm dog. He’s a big boy so I do worry he will push someone around or get away with bad behavior, but Ella was amazing. She’s knowledgable and turtle loved her. I will definitely be booking Ella again if I go out of town.
Friendly and professional, Ella was exactly what we were looking for!
Ella Jo is an enthusiastic and responsible pet sitter. Animals seem to understand that she is there to help, and they quickly build a happy relationship with her. She truly enjoys playing with and caring for the animals she sits for, and they reciprocate by being happy to see her. I know that Ella Jo is studying to work with animals, so that makes her an asset to the Rover team for sure. She is ambitious and excited about what she does, and I would HIGHLY recommend her services to anyone in need of a caretaker for their fuzzy family member.

Although I will not be providing home services at my own house (my house is quite tiny and, like I said, I already have 3 dogs!), I do run almost daily with one of my more energetic dogs, and would be thrilled to take your pup with me sometime! If you are looking to get your dog more socialized with other dogs, I would be happy to accompany your pup along with one of mine to a park! All three of my dogs are in different life stages (a 7 m/o puppy, a 2 y/o, and a 12 y/o) and all very social and friendly. I have a reliable mode of transportation, my car, so if there are no parks near you, no worries! Of course if you’d rather stay in the neighborhood, that’s great too! I am very comfortable with handling leash reactive dogs and dogs that may require a specific type of exercise. If your pup loves to swim, I know some great spots!
Information Ella H. would like to know about your pet
I have absolutely no breed preferences. I love every animal equally. If your dog has behavioral setbacks, or is quite shy, I am very comfortable slowly introducing myself to make them feel safe, and have lots of experience with scared or traumatized dogs (volunteering at the shelter). Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your animal more comfortable, if your dog has special training or physical therapy, is leash reactive, nervous around other dogs or men, or anything else you believe to be imperative to your animal's wellbeing :) The more specific, the better!
A typical day
You can be sure that I will provide whatever care is necessary for your pet. We can play fetch, go for runs, a swim or more leisurely walks if necessary, rehearse training exercises, physical therapy/rehabilitation, etc. No matter the age, dogs can always benefit from cognitive stimulation. I can provide treat dispensing toys/puzzles, or if you already have your own, that's even better! Walks around the neighborhood are always the go-to, but if your pup has a favorite park or trail, I’m happy to drive them there in my super safe and spacious Subaru Outback!

Availability
I am currently taking classes on Mondays and Wednesday, so I will not be available at any time on those days for walking. For drop-ins on Monday and Wednesday, I only ask that you will provide WiFi if I will be staying for more than a an hour. Additionally, I will not be available for walking/drop-ins on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, from 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM, as I’ll be working at my serving job during those times. For house sitting, I have open availability, as long there is internet provided in your house.
