Flexible Schedule, Experienced

Pet care experience

I have had cats and (large) dogs since I was a kid and have been riding and caring for horses for almost as long. I love animals and understand the importance and peace of mind for keeping them at home while you are away. Currently, I live in an apartment with one cat and we (yes, the cat and myself) miss having a dog, but it's just not a great situation to have a dog (my cat and I like big, pony sized dogs and high energy dogs). I have house sat and cared for the cats and dogs of my neighbors and family and I volunteer at a horse barn on the weekends. I have been at the barn for 10 years, I clean stalls and pastures, feed, water, groom, walk, everything the horses need to be happy and healthy. I love helping and loving almost all animals, snakes freak me out.

Liz recently watched our 11-year-old boxer and house sat while we were on vacation for 2 weeks. Liz was amazing with both our old lady dog and the care of our home while we were away. Our pup required special medications as well as some special assistance in and out of the house due to a strained muscle occurring just a day before we left and Liz cared for her as if she were her own. Her communication was outstanding and we never once worried about the house or the dog while we were away. We feel really lucky to have found Liz, and will be using her again and could not recommend her more to anyone looking for someone to care for their pet while they're away.

Elizabeth was able to drop in with my pup last minute when I went back to work, and I’m so thankful for her! I had never used Rover before, so I was a bit worried. Elizabeth eased all my nerves and made sure to follow instructions to a T and also sent lots of picture updates :) I will definitely be booking more walks in the future!

Safety, trust & environment

At your home, I will follow whatever rules you have for your pets. Fenced yard, I will stand outside with them, play with them in the yard. If they need to go out on a leash, I will be out there in any weather with them. Inside the house, we still follow the rules even while the parents are gone, furniture rules, people food rules, whatever you have set already.

Information Elizabeth T. would like to know about your pet

I understand that every dog is different and that they are dogs and not people (aka not always rational). Please let me know any of your dogs fears, allergies, routines/schedules. I have had dogs that are scared of thunder, fireworks, sewers, other dogs - I will do everything to not expose them to their fear, if storms or loud noises are the problem, I will do whatever you normally do to give them as much comfort as possible. Watching tv loud, giving them and meds or treats, putting on a thundershirt, just let me know what works. For allergies, we will avoid anything that will bother your dog, if they need treatment while in my care, I will give it to them. I had a dog with skin allergies, we did baths and brushing often. Anything to make sure they are comfortable. I thrive on routine and schedules, if your pet does too, fantastic. If they expect dinner a 6 o'clock on the dot, that's when they will get dinner.

A typical day

I love taking walks, being a distance and trail runner, I know of a lot of great trails and parks to explore, but walking around the neighborhood is just fine too! Any weather, I have gear for it all; even with my outdoor allergies, I will spend all the time outside that your dog wants. Same for your dog's favorite play activities, show me their favorite toy or activity and I am game, I love making sure dogs have plenty of fun and enrichment.

Availability

I work a hybrid office and home schedule, typically Mon-Wed from 8-3, home on Thurs and Fri. With my flexible schedule, I will try to fit in pet care wherever and whenever - I am a huge planner and plan my days around pet care and my few work meetings. On the weekends when I am at the barn, that is usually 4 hours at the most a day.
