Taking care of more than just dogs.
Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I'm a full-time mature student (30 years old) studying Psychology. **I am currently unable to sit for any dog that can't be alone for more than 4-6 hours. Classes are no longer online and I have to go to campus. Some days are more flexible than others, please refer to my schedule section if my profile to see if my schedule works for your need for a sitter. I have been around dogs for most of my childhood. We had two smaller dogs at my dad's house and we had cats at my mum's, along with hamsters, bunnies, rats, and lizards. As an adult I have owned rats and cats. I recently moved from the US to Edinburgh and one of the things I miss most is my mother's dogs! I miss playing fetch with them, seeing their legs twitch when you find just the right spot to scratch their bellies, and exploring new areas while taking them on walks. I would love to take care of your dogs in a way that I no longer can for my mum. I also really like cats. I like earning their trust so that they let me pet them. They're so laid back and I find their sassy attitudes intriguing. I also find their fascination with strings and feathers incredibly entertaining. Some dogs (and other animals) have an unknown past that results in unique quirks and fears/aggression toward other dogs, certain types of people, or objects. I have experience working with rescues with trauma that require a bit more love and care. Please let me know if this is the case for your dog and we can discuss what extra accommodations they might need. I am very empathetic, which is why I prefer to stay where your pet lives. If I were a dog, I would be confused and lonely if a stranger came and went briefly a couple times a day or I had to stay somewhere foreign to me. It's scary enough when mum and dad leave! I am also empathetic to you and how hard it is to leave your pet while you're away. I send pictures regularly throughout the day of your fur baby and our adventures so you know that they are safe and happy while you're gone.

Elizabeth was fantastic and made a great bond with Tam and this helped our holiday be the relaxing trip it was intended to be, there were plenty updates photos and communication. Elizabeth was not afraid to ask questions and the house was spotless when we returned such and nice surprise.
Elizabeth did a great job with our dog and cat, you wouldn't even have known we were away judging by how relaxed they were when we came home! We got plenty of photos and updates while we were away and wouldn't hesitate to ask Elizabeth to house sit again for us in future.
Elizabeth took wonderful care of our older dog Mushu! She was very attentive and sent us updates. We came home to a happy pup. She even did the washing up in the kitchen which was very nice of her! Definitely recommend
Elizabeth took phenomenal care of my 2.5 y.o Boxer mix rescue for an entire week while I was out of town. She sent multiple pictures and daily updates that helped me feel comfortable and worry free that he was in good hands. She is very warm, friendly, communicative, and responsive. She cleaned up my home after she left, which was the icing on the cake. I trusted her with my pup - which as many of you know is hard to do - and you can too!

I cannot take pets into my flat, but I take care of people's pets and homes with the love and care I would give if they were my own. You will never come home to a mess to clean up after a long day.
Information Elizabeth R. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know before dog sitting if your dog is: -potty-trained -aggressive (toward humans or other dogs) -has an excess amount of energy and needs longer walks or play time -chases squirrels or other outdoor furry friends -is allowed off lead -takes medication -barks/howls a lot (especially at night) -eats things that aren't food (socks, shoes, etc)
A typical day
I like to wander around side streets and various trails around the city. My favourite place so far is Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill. I also enjoy walking along Water of Leith and the Canal. I would love to take a dog or two on my next journey!
