One day, you stop noticing the fur

Pet care experience

I've lived with dogs for 15 years, had a cat of my own for 8 of those years, and now also have a 1.5 year old Aussie/Corgi mix that is absolute chaos but also the sweetest little guy. My dog is also reactive, though not aggressive, so Im very familiar with the training techniques and behaviors of reactive pups. If you have a reactive dog, I'd love to discuss their triggers and see if I could be a good fit to take care of them. Below I've outlined how I train my reactive dog but your dog's needs might be different. What I do: We use treats and redirection for our dog's training. We also carefully watch for the physical signs that may be telling us he's overstimulated and need to be removed from a situation before he gets triggered and reacts. Shoot me a message with any questions you may have and I'll respond asap. If you want to chat first to see if I'd be a good fit for your pets, great! You should never feel pressured into booking with someone you aren't feeling totally great about! That's where meet and greets or video calls also come in handy 😊

As my apartment has some pretty thin walls and dogs tend to play pretty loud, we dont do play dates here. I'm familiar with crate training (and letting them take a break even if I just want to cuddle them 😅). I also don't ever allow dogs off leash unless they're in a dog park or fully enclosed yard. While your dog might be friendly, the dog they approach may not be. Also, my partner and I had a senior dog with health issues and I learned a lot about how to care for them. Luke was arthritic and couldn't do long walks. Then he broke his leg so we carried him downstairs and outside for weeks. We had to make significant adjustments to our home and work lives to make Luke's last weeks and days as good as they could've been.

Information Elizabeth R. would like to know about your pet

If your dog has any special needs, medical or behavioral, let me know and we can discuss our options for working together going forward. It's also helpful to know if they've spent any time training with a dog trainer in the past.

A typical day

I can entertain them at your home, take them for a walk, hit up the dog park, or even head out on a hike if they need to burn off a little extra energy!
