Animals, and cats specifically, have always been a big part of my life. In my experience, animals just find me. I have never actively gone out and adopted a pet. They have all come to me either as strays or through people close to me. I currently have three cats in my life - Omar, a street wise boy who showed up one morning on my doorstep in Philadelphia; Opal, a gorgeous Siamese found on the street of downtown LA as a kitten; and Pearl, my deceased parents' beloved feline. I also have a pet squirrel! (I really do). His name is Pablo! While I don't currently own a dog, I have an affinity for them and love to walk and look after them for my friends and neighbors. I have volunteered with Kitten Rescue here in LA, working in the nursery. I've bottled raised 3 litters of kittens in my own home. In Philadelphia, I would come across many strays and feral cats would sometimes take up residence in my yard. Once I brought in a feral cat during a particularly snowy winter and she gave birth to a litter in my house. I cared for her until she was able to be released and raised and adopted 2 of her kittens.
