Ready to love on your babies!
Pet care experience
I've been taking care of dogs for over ten years, anything from a small Maltese, to a large retriever mix (90lbs). My greatest love, Dougie, was my deaf pitbull mix. He gave me extensive experience working with deaf dogs and taught me how to communicate and understand their behavior. I have experience with reactive dogs, dogs with special needs, and misunderstood dogs. I'm open-minded to meet each individual dog's needs, whether that be lots of attention or more space, highly structured environments, or less. Dougie had me well-accustomed to 1.5 hour long walks 2x a day, and I happily made time to ensure his happiness and wellbeing. We still have most of his supplies, including a large crate in our apartment, seat belts for car rides, and an array of dog toys. While we don't have a yard ourselves, we have access to a fenced-in yard with the potential for pupdates with a well-mannered, neutered male golden doodle. I hope to provide as much enrichment and love to your pup so their stay feels like a vacation!
Reviews
My puppy and kitty just love Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a god send for me as a single pet parent. My babies love her and she takes such great care of them!!
We are very happy with the dog sitting provided by Elizabeth. She took great care of our two dogs. They were comfortable with her and we were able to enjoy our weekend away with no concerns.
Elizabeth is always willing to help out when we need her and our babies love her.

I prefer to match your pet caring style to maintain consistency for your pet. In my apartment, I can crate your dog during the day, but am willing to leave them to roam as well. We often structure our evenings and free days around the pet, so we will hike in a dog friendly space rather than go out to brunch. We eat at home so the dog is not left alone. I enjoy providing mental and physical stimulation for your pet to keep them happy and healthy. Our home is on the second floor, but I can carry your dog if they cannot go up a lot of steps. We also have a set of small stairs if your pet cannot jump on/off furniture. For walks, I take a balanced approach. I often carry treats to encourage a dog not to pull, but I do allow them to choose the route and sniff often. I have experience using a prong collar. I like to bring water for your pup if it's hot/going to be a longer walk. My dog was sensitive to the temperature, so I'm well versed in sweaters, boots for the cold/heat, and taking breaks.
Information Elizabeth F. would like to know about your pet
Please do not hesitate to let me know of your dog's quirks! If they are reactive towards certain situations, like people on bikes but not people on scooters, I'm happy to be mindful. Please let me know if your dog has a bite history. I'm not opposed to working with your dog, but I want to be able to know what their triggers are and warning signs - I try to be very aware of dog's body language including posture/stiffness, ear position, locking, etc, but I know every dog is different.
A typical day
Depending on the dog, I like to go for short rides to Kinn's Rd for short or long walks! I also love to play mentally stimulating games like "hunt around the house" by hiding approved treats and then encouraging your dog to find them. I'm no stranger to fetch, tug, and chase. I used to wrestle with my pitbull when he was alive, but I recognize this is not safe for every dog, so I would only attempt it with explicit and emphatic permission. I plan on allowing your pet to relax on our porch and watch the nature around them as well (squirrels, birds, groundhogs too!)

Availability
I currently work full-time M-F, 8am-4:30pm near downtown Troy, so I can be available for midday walks/drop ins. Before 8am and after 5pm, I am available for long walks, enrichment, or any other pet care. I'm happy to do house-sitting for a week or to board as well.
