Dog Haven/Heaven in a cozy home!

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Elissa and I love dogs. I've always had dogs and enjoy them. I have a 10-year old who loves dogs also and we rescued our dog Sprinkles. Sprinkles is just happy to be here and his hidden talent turns out to be dog hosting! He loves dogs of all shapes and sizes - particularly large ones! (that might be in his blood since he is part greyhound part chihuahua!) I will walk and care for your dog like he/she was mine. I understand that dogs have routines and special diets. Let me know and I will do my best to accommodate. I will be careful, yet creative with your pet. I have experience with older dogs, toy dogs, great danes, Chihuahuas, labs, golden retrievers, poodles, terriers, and am usually open to any breed. We have a yard that dogs are certain to enjoy. Guests will primarily be in the house chillin'. I will take your dog for walks a couple times a day. Bathroom breaks at least every 4 hours. Last bathroom break is around 10:30pm and your dog will be expected to hold it until around 6am. Of course there are exceptions for a new dog in a new setting. However, if you are concerned about your dog being able to hold it that long or if your dog requires a peepad when at home, then a home stay is not the best option for your pet. Don't feel bad - our dog can't do home-stays for another reason. When I have to leave home, depending on how the dogs are doing, they will either stay in my den/office (with a couch and pandora streaming music) or are free to roam the entire house. Your dog can or cannot be crated. If your dog is normally crated, please bring the crate which will make the dog feel more comfortable and adjust easier. Many dogs have come here and slept in their crates at night! It's no biggy - whatever works best for all involved.

Another successful stay. Elissa is always great, does a good job of giving regular updates and is the only sitter we use!

Elissa was extremely easygoing and was a great sport about taking care of an occasionally hyper pup. Tina the Dog came back rested and happy, and I'd recommend Elissa to anyone.

Information Elissa P. would like to know about your pet

About my house Dogs sleeping arrangement - Anywhere inside the house. Time I'll spend with your dog: I am home most of the time - I may leave for work for a few hours here and there - so your dog will be hanging out with me and enjoy my company as I will be enjoying his/hers. Feeding Arrangements: 1-2 times a day or as many as requested a day. As much as a client might be used to, I cannot leave your dogs food out all day. What happens is that my dog or another dog will eat your dogs food. Or, your dog would eat another dog's food and get sick. Feeding times are monitored closely so everyone eats their own food, privately. If someone does not eat they can have a chance a bit later on. When I leave home Dogs will be sectioned to one room - the den, or left to roam the house. Dogs from a different home will be separated when I am not home, unless I know them very well. They will enjoy leather seating, pandora streamed music, and a wonderful view. And of course the placement of their food and water. What I I would like to know: -How often to feed each dog and the best time to feed them. -How much food to feed the dog. -If they need any medication or special needs. -Does your dog have any aggression issues that I should know about. Walks - I take the dogs for walks around the neighborhood. A basic walk up and down the streets where we might pick up the pace sometimes for fun and also walk slowly to smell the flowers - and of course giving them time to do there business. We go out 3 times a day! Morning, afternoon and before bedtime. I can also try to teach your dog a few tricks if you are interested. Our dog Sprinkles learned to shake hands and really enjoys greeting people that way. Drop/off pickup arrangements: I have a 2 hour window - so if your dog is dropped off on Monday at 7am and pickup is on Wednesday then on Wednesday pickup would need to be schedule by 9am at the latest on Wednesday or another day charge occurs. I will ask you for specific drop/off and pickup times. I have a house and not a kennel so arriving at anytime is not an option. Of course there is flexibility to these rules in some situations or in an emergency, but this is a guideline.

A typical day

I am a free spirit and will do my best to make your dog feel comfortable and happy. I am flexible and will do my best to accommodate your dogs unexpected needs beyond basic food, walks, comfortable shelter, and companionship. Dogs have been known to get spoiled and pampered here. We enjoy extended stays because then we get to know your dog and have more fun!
