Active animal lover!

Pet care experience

I grew up with animals of all kinds. I have experience with dogs, cats, hamsters, frogs, hermit crabs, birds/chickens, horses and more. I have always loved working with animals and strive to give them the best. I have also helped train my dog and taught her tricks. I love working with dogs of all ages from puppy to senior dogs. Having been around horses for my whole life I am capable of walking bigger dogs with high energy and keeping control over them. While I was in school I had my dog on campus. Along with being a full time student, I was on the varsity equestrian team and a campus tour guide. I always found time between classes, work, and training to make sure my dog was comfortable and had everything she needed. Having her at school helped me excel in time management skills balancing between school, sports, work, and my pets.

Elise was absolutely wonderful with walking my 100lb dog. She was able to handle him like a professional and also was very gentle and caring as he was just discharged from surgery. She was also very flexible and willing to work with my scheduling constraints, which I greatly appreciated. I can’t wait to book with her again. Highly recommend!

This letter is in support of Elise Simon's candidacy for work with Rover.com. I am a neighbor of Elise's and have known her and her family over her lifetime. I have had dogs for over fifty years and have shown one of my three West Highland Terriers in various professional dog shows. I have known trainers and used pet sitting services and dog walkers and sitters over the fifty years. Elise has shown her love of animals having worked with and ridden horses most of her life. She has walked and cared for my Westie Leo many times over the years. My long experience in almost every aspect of dog ownership has shown me that Elise is professional in her dog handling and truly loving of horses and dogs. In every instance Elise has been a consummate dog handler dealing with an obstinate little terrier Leo successfully with her knowledge, discipline, and kind and loving manner. All in all, Elise has all the characteristics and expertise that I would seek in someone to handle my beloved dog. She has my unqualified recommendation to work for Rover. Sincerely yours, Jean Efron

Elise loves animals and has a gift for communicating with them. She is gentle and caring, but she also knows how to be firm if needed. She is exact on feeding amounts and feeding times and is consistent with a walking schedule. She spends a lot of time with the animals frequently playing with them and their toys or giving them pets and taking pictures. She cares a lot about pets and takes her responsibility seriously.

Elise has been walking dogs professionally since high school, and has been working with animals for her whole life including dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, frogs, birds, and horses. She takes good care of them and always gives them lots of love :)

I am able to take your pets on walks from short potty walks, to long exercise walks or runs, to leisurely smell walks. I'm willing to accommodate all pets with any needs they may have from exercising to medications. I also have some experience with training and am willing to help continue implementing the routines you may already have set in place. Additionally I am happy to help with any upkeep that is required around the house during house stays.

Information Elise S. would like to know about your pet

***due to a recent interaction with a dog I would feel more comfortable that the first couple of walks you are home with the dog while I pick the dog up for their walk*** I am comfortable with all breeds and sizes; however, before walks I'd like to know how they are on walks: do they pull? How are they with other dogs? Are they spayed/neutered? Are they ok with children and bikes? etc. Additionally, I'd like to know how they do with the weather. DC can be very bipolar: hot one day cold and rainy the next. If I am house sitting, how long is your pet comfortable being alone for? Do they have anxiety? If they do, do they need medication or anything to help them? What foods and treats are they allowed to have? Are there any allergens that I need to be aware of?

A typical day

I would love to take them out and about to explore the neighborhood. I enjoy going on walks and the occasional runs. Additionally, I am happy to accommodate our walks to benefit your pet and give them the best time. Most importantly they will get lots of hugs and loving. As I work morning shifts, I am able to walk your pets early in the morning. Depending on how close work is to your place, they may have to be alone for longer stretches of time (4-5 hours).

I would like the preface that I am interested in more long term and regular recurring walks in the Foggy Bottom/West End/Georgetown area. If you're looking for a regular sitter/walker please reach out. I am currently taking time away from school and work at a cafe/deli. I try and work morning shifts (6:30 am) so that I am able to walk and or exercise your pet right after. I normally am done with work by 12:00 pm. I generally know my schedule two weeks out, but am very flexible and try to prioritize you and your pet. If there is a conflict I will be sure to communicate it and make it work.
