Talking to dogs > talking to people

Pet care experience

I grew up with a lovely Beagle named Java who passed away years ago, and I miss him dearly. In the time since, I've cared for many friends' dogs, sitting and walking dogs big and tiny, young and old. Whether we're going to the park, going for a walk, going to that other park, or just romping around the living room, dogs tend to love me because I have immediate, magnetic, unconditional love for them. I love talking to them in silly voices - though I'm too shy to do them for you :D I love forging deep bonds with your pooch! I'm a bit goofy too, which plays well with dogs - not as popular with humans... but I'm not sitting you, am I?

Ed is simply the best! He is very communicative, punctual, clean, and kind! Our dog absolutely loves him and we never ever have to worry about how things are going at the house when we are out of town. We’ve used him a few times now and will continue to do so as much as we can. It is such a relief having Ed and we can’t recommend him enough!

Ed is the best sitter we’ve ever used - my dog loves him, he’s very responsive and communicative, always follows our instructions and even goes above and beyond for my pup. You can just tell how much he loves dogs and caring for them (which of course calms my dog mama heart) He also treats our home with respect and is very clean. Definitely recommend!

I cannot take dogs at my current home. However, I am used to visiting clients’ homes. I’ve entered houses and apartments via smart locks and electronic locks, check ins with apartment front offices for access to a spare key, and of course keys hidden under rocks. I’m very open about my visit; I take lots of pictures. The only thing I need for my visit are thorough instructions and a place to get water (for myself and your pooch).

Information Ed C. would like to know about your pet

What makes your dog(s) feel comfortable and/or secure and safe? While certainly not a problem for all dogs, dog anxiety is sometimes misunderstood and complex, and I want to do whatever I can to keep your dog(s) relaxed and happy. What are their favorite toys? Are they especially food motivated or play motivated? Do they have allergies?

A typical day

In general, I'll stick to the streets you walk. It's territory they know. But if you're interested in field trips and your dog has had good experiences at them before, I love dog parks!

I’m thrilled to say that work has finally picked back up, so I am gone Mon-Thurs for my commute to the UH campus (60-90 minutes away). It means being gone from about 7am until 5-5:30pm; therefore, more often than not, additional arrangements need to be made, like daycare (I’m happy to do pickups & drop offs on the way to and from work) or an additional Rover caretaker who can do a midday drop in. Weekends I am much more flexible, and Fridays I can usually take off earlier if needed.
