Undegrad who loves furry friends!

Pet care experience

Hello, my name is Dylan and I'm a current undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley (currently back in my hometown of Kansas City for the summer) who'd love to take care of your furry friends! Throughout my life, I've trained my own dogs—including my current Golden Doodle, Harry Truman—and pride myself on being able to understand the emotions and needs of our pets. Additionally, I'm a meticulous, hard-working individual who'll be sure to follow your precise instructions to ensure the best experience possible. I have a year of professional dog training experience, and have been boarding/sitting neighborhood animals for much longer than that. I have very flexible hours and am available at a moment's notice. I'll treat your dog like any other member of your family, and respect what makes your lovable pups unique!

Dylan did a great job watching my dog. He was responsible and reliable. I’d definitely recommend him!

I had specific requirements for a dog sitter: accepts only one client at a time and has no dogs of their own. This is because my dog, Zoey (1 year old German Shepherd), is hit or miss when it comes to other dogs. According to Dylan's profile, he met this criteria, so I booked Zoey for a one night stay. This was to see how she would do in his home for an extended stay for an upcoming near-week-long trip of mine. She did well and seemed happy when I picked her up, so I booked him for my upcoming trip. I dropped Zoey off for her five night stay between 8:00 and 8:30 am. We took Zoey to his backyard while we brought her crate and things into his house. At neither location was there another dog, but just after 10:00 am, I receive a message from him saying Zoey was not getting along with his mother-in-law's dog and that his mother-in-law requested that he find another situation for Zoey. At this point, I am over an hour into my drive to Colorado and now have to find someone else to take her even though there should not have been another dog in his home. Dylan said he could provide transportation to whoever would be taking her and Rover said they could find another sitter in their network, but whoever that sitter would be would be a complete stranger to me and I did not feel comfortable with that. The only people that could take Zoey at the time were my parents' and they had to leave work early to do so. Dylan was able to take Zoey to their house, which I appreciate, but he had her leash hooked onto her collar, not the lead that was provided, and her collar slipped off so she was unrestrained and could have ran off. She also was missing a toy that she had when I dropped her off. My parents were leaving town the next day, so I had to find someone else to take Zoey for the remainder of my trip and coordinate between them and my parents. Dylan's profile at the time of both bookings, and at the time this review is being written, says he only accepts one client at a time and he has no dogs at his home. This whole situation was entirely avoidable had I been made aware that another dog would be there or if his profile information was correct. This was not only an inconvenience for me, but also for my parents, and for the sitter that watched Zoey for the rest of my trip. I realize I should have confirmed with him that no other dog would be there, but you should also be able to trust that a sitter's profile is accurate.

Dylan and my lab got along great. Great job. I could tell she enjoyed her stay. I will use Dylan again in the future if he’s available.
