Lots of energy, fun, and dog-talk!

Pet care experience

Drew here and I have been an animal ally my entire life. I grew up in Maryland and Kansas, and whether it was in the confines of suburbia, or the freedom of farm life, I always made sure to form a bond with any nearby four-legged friends. Growing up both of my parents were allergic to most dogs, so from a young age, I made it my mission to dog-sit and provide walks for any and all neighbors and friends in order to get my "dog-fix." I would love to get to know your animals too! I have been walking friends and family dogs for over 4 years now (as a licensed professional). I recently started volunteering at my local shelter and have completed Fear Free Shelters (a program that promotes behavioral learning, positive reinforcement, and safety with all new animal encounters).

Drew has the temperament and patience to work all different types of dogs. He has dog sat for my two dogs (Staffordshire Terrior & Hound Mix) on several occasions, and I think our dogs love Drew more than their own parents! He is loving and kind, always understands the importance of exercising our dogs and giving them the attention they deserve, especially when their main caregivers are away and they are feeling anxious. Drew is a great dog dad as well, and I’ve seen the love and care he effortlessly outputs to his own.

Safety, trust & environment

I am fastidiously neat and tidy, and love leaving a space cleaner than I found it. Life and accidents happen, especially with pets, but clean up is a breeze with a plan (and treats to distract any interested furry friends). Multiple walks and potty breaks a day have helped my dog Jesse stay out of the proverbial dog house, and this is the same approach I bring to any walking, enrichment, or pet-sitting experience.

Information Drew D. would like to know about your pet

Knowing a dogs age, breed, and size are always good and readily available on the app when profiles are complete. I also love to get specifics about leash reactivity, dog/pet reactiveness (socialization), and preferred parks or routes when applicable. Some info about their favorite treats and training never hurts too! Finally, if it is going to be a longer dog-sitting experience favorite toys, games, and spots in the house are great to know as well (in addition to any potential household hazards). I'm happy to move a favorite dog-bed into the applicable sun beam when needed!

A typical day

A walk with purpose to get energy out and explore, or a sniff-ari walk where we meander and allow your dog to get all the sensory and sniffery information he or she needs are both the best depending on your preference. Most of the time we end up doing a bit of both! I also try to plan walks to allow for shade and breaks depending on dog size, age, and breed. If we are ever house sitting we also make sure for plenty of play and fun enrichment in addition to attention to detail with feeding preferences, medication(s) and sleeping arrangements. A happy pet is a comfortable pet!

I work part-time and volunteer at the local shelter MCASAC (Montgomery County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center). I love making time for pets when their humans need a little extra help with providing care during any given week.
