Compassionate Pet Sitter

Pet care experience

Are you looking for a patient, compassionate pet-sitter with extensive animal care experience and reasonable rates? Look no further! I'm a former humane educator with a suburban humane society, where I also provided care for dogs and cats. I'm certified in pet first aid and insured. Over the years, I've rescued, adopted, and placed dozens of cats and dogs. Currently, I'm the happy cat parent to Miss Kitty - a feral cat who decided to move in with me ten years ago.

We very much appreciate Doug's care for our senior cat. Our cat seems very comfortable with Doug and he is well taken care of!

Doug was great with our older cat and took very good care of him. We appreciated the updates and photos and could tell our cat was really comfortable with Doug. We knew our cat was in good hands, which made it so much easier to be away for a few days. We will definitely ask Doug to take care of our cat again!

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Douglas as a pet caretaker! Having known Doug for most of his life, in both personal and professional capacities, I have had ample opportunity to observe his character and behaviors, and I eagerly recommend him as an intelligent and trustworthy man with a deep love and passion for all animals. I have fond memories of visiting his family home and seeing Doug and his beloved dog, Snoopy, taking walks and playing together. Even as a child, Doug faithfully loved and cared for Snoopy from puppy to passing and they were truly devoted to one another. Throughout his life, Doug has not only loved and cared for his own pets, but he extended that care to neighborhood feral cats, birds, and small animals by providing food and shelter, and even by choosing garden plantings beneficial to the animals. As a volunteer and supporter, he has cared for animal shelter dogs and cats. He is a vocal advocate for humane treatment and respect for animals of all species, and backs his values with direct action through contributions, boycotting conflicting products, and making dietary changes that align with his beliefs. When visiting our family, I’ve watched Doug win over our cats, which is no small feat with our shy older girls who hide from most others. He was even able to encourage play and purrs! Doug was able to do the same with my mother’s senior cat and provided excellent care for him while mom was hospitalized. I do not hesitate to recommend Doug for your caretaking needs and know that his commitment to excellence, his compassion, and his skills with general and medical care for your pet will not disappoint!

Doug has an affinity for all animals. Caring for animals is natural and innate to his character. Doug provides attentive and dependable care for cats and dogs with a great deal of affection. Trustworthy, reliable, and responsible are all terms for Doug’s work with animals.
