Pet care experience

My wife and I have had dog companions of our own for the past 25 years and, since retiring a couple years ago, I've been sitting and walking for other people's dogs frequently -- and falling in love with each of them. My dog, Penny, loves the company of other dogs. When Penny and I have another dog to play with -- especially an energetic one -- we'll often take a trip to the dog park where there's lots of room to run and wear everyone out. But even if we're just walking in the neighborhood the priority is for the dogs to enjoy themselves and I reward good behaviors with praise and small treats (if allowed by the dog's parents).

Doug C has shown the patience of a saint, when it came to walking my frenchie, Lilly. He is not only reliable but you can tell that he truly loves dogs. My dog adores him and that means the world to me. You will be at ease when hiring him for you dog/furry friend’s walking needs.

Doug has been watching our dog, Milo, since he was a puppy. Milo is kind of a skittish guy, so at first we were worried to drop Milo with someone he didn't know, and now we call it 'dog camp' when he stays with Doug! We get daily pictures of Milo on walks, at the dog park, or generally having fun. Or favorite pics though are the ones of Milo asleep at Doug's feet. It seems like Milo is totally inseparable from Doug when he is at Dog Camp. We have absolutely no worries leaving Milo in Doug's care for a walk or for pet sitting. He has made us and our skittish dog at ease and comfortable.

Doug is exactly what you ask for in a dog walker, kind, courteous, and outgoing. I had no concerns after meeting him, and neither did my pup. I would absolutely recommend him to friends and look forward to utilizing his services in the future.

Doug has taken care of our pets -- our beloved goldies, Lily & Archer, and our cats -- Shaniqua and Buster -- several times. He loves them so much! He is by far my favorite pet sitter and dog walker of all time. Lily is old and a bit decrepit . . . Doug treats her like the queen bee that she is and gives her that extra elder-dog-care that she requires. He is patient and loving with her. And, then . . . his relationship with Archer -- whom he often calls Archie when I've watched him interact with him. We wouldn't let anyone else but Doug get away with his special sweet name for Archer. They have a special bond. In fact, both dogs (the cats too) miss him when he's not taking care of them. Our dogs are super special to us -- Doug is the only one who will be great enough for us!

Dogs being watched at my home have a fenced yard to play in and Penny, our small mixed breed dog, is sweet, calm, and loves canine friends. My spouse is also at home with me so between us we can cover any emergency that may arise. Either she or I would always be at home. We also have lots of toys to keep your dog busy and a good-sized crate if that was needed.

A typical day

I typically walk dogs in our leafy neighborhood or, when appropriate, go to a local dog park. This park is large enough to chuck balls a good distance if retrieving is among their passions. It also has a great bark surface that dogs tend to stay clean on, though I always give them a good brush down if their coats get too dirty.

Being retired and without grandchildren (yet?), dogs fill a big part of my time and focus. I've been sitting for and walking other people's dogs frequently for the past year.
