Big dogs are big softies!

Pet care experience

Growing up with dogs taught me about unconditional love, loyalty, and how much fun dogs can be. We always had big dogs growing up...several Boxers and a Husky/Collie mix. Most of them were rescue dogs. As an adult, I thought long and hard about what kind of dog I wanted. I knew I wanted a big dog. And after careful research, I decided I wanted a Lab. I had two little kids at the time and I wanted a dog who would be good with kids. So I took my kids to a local Lab breeder and we fell in love with a little puppy and named him Bubba. We had him for 14 wonderful years. He was a total sweetheart, goofy, and strong as an ox. He never ran out of energy! At one point, I took him for walks 4 times a day, and we both loved it. I miss going for walks with him. My parents currently have another Boxer, a rescue dog, and I adore him. When I visit them, he always comes over to say hi to me and get his ears petted. Sometimes I'll take him for a walk, just because he loves it. And because it's fun to see his ears flop in the breeze as he lopes along. My daughter has a 9 mo old Bernese Mountain Dog who is a sweetie. Big dogs run in the family! Big dogs are my specialty and have always had a special place in my heart. Maybe because they're just big softies and all they want is some attention, a daily walk, and grub to eat. They're very easy to please and I love to be around them. If you have a big dog who needs his or her daily walks, I would be happy to help you out! I'll bring a lifetime of love for dogs with me and will treat your dog like he or she is one of my own or my family's dogs. I will treat your dog the same way I would want you to treat my dog, if the situation were reversed. Your fur baby is important to you, and will be important to me, too! Special skills: I've taken care of special needs dogs that were deaf, lovable, emotional basket cases, as well as rescue dogs that had been severely abused by previous owners. I've also taken care of senior dogs who needed extra gentle care and patience. it is these experiences that have made me realize how important it is that we as a society take care of our special needs dogs. As much as I love puppies, (who doesn't?!), I've considered taking care of rescue, special needs, and senior dogs exclusively because there's such a need for it. I love all dogs, but if you have a large breed dog who is also a rescue dog and/or a senior dog, that's my jam. =)

I like to know as much as possible about a dog before sitting him or her. Especially Labs, Boxers, Huskies, Golden Retrievers, and Bernese Mountain Dogs.

A typical day

It depends on the neighborhood, but I love to walk around the block, go to a park and walk the trails, or go to a dog park.
