Pet care experience
💫 We accept last-minute bookings for boarding and daycare, as well as unneutered dogs in some circumstances. - Hello! We’re Mike and Dominique, and we’ve been caring for dogs for 22 years now. Presently we have one dog, an elderly German Shepherd named Jackson; he is very advanced in age now for his breed and isn’t very active anymore. He’s great with all people and other dogs, is a wonderful companion, and we trust him immensely. More about Jackson under his profile 🐕 Our Personal Dog 🐕 History: 👦 🧒 Mike had a Chihuahua growing up, and I (Dominique) had an Irish Setter, several cats, and 3 horses. We both adore cats as well as dogs, but cannot board them at present because of having dog guests (not all are fond of cats). 🤵♂️ 👰♀️ We’ve had 4 dogs in our 22 years together, each growing well into late adulthood and giving us the gift of many years with them. We’ve learned a great deal about caring for various medical ailments, namely diabetes, hypothyroidism, vasculitis, blindness, deafness, kidney disease, & CCD (dementia). We are also comfortable with wound care, be it ‘hot spots’ or other skin conditions that require dressing changes or other attention. Boarding for dogs who require frequent medical care throughout the day is at a different rate. Booking: When we receive a booking request for boarding or daycare (for new clients), we’ll carefully look over your pet’s profile and respond with some general questions about your dog’s care and routines. Once your pet is established with us, future stays are easy breezy! Note: if you’re new to Rover and end up booking with us, ask for our promo code for $20 off 💵! Se habla español. - Mike and Dominique
Reviews
Dominque and Michael were great! Very communicative, and caring. They provided a comfortable and fun environment for my pups first extended stay away from home. Definitely recommend and will be using their services again!
Dominique did such a great job with my 4 month old golden retriever puppy. She sent videos and pictures throughout the day and Harper seemed to really have a lot of fun! I will be using her again when I need someone to watch my girl
Dominique & Michael Q. cancelled a booking 4 days before it was scheduled to begin.
Thank you for taking such good care of my pup while I was out of town. I loved all the photos of Chance having such a fun time playing with his puppy friends.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety, Trust, & Environment: We use great care in ensuring dogs are safe, a good fit, and are given no opportunity to escape. We have a 6-foot fence, attend dogs consistently outdoors, and have a routine in place for receiving anyone at the door. All that said, some dogs are exceptional Houdinis and very clever, so if your dog has any history of trying to escape (including poor leash behavior), we must be informed of the nature of this prior to booking. Toys 🧸 Bring them only at your own risk 🤣 They may be chewed up if another dog gets ahold of them. We have toys here that are washed or sanitised, and we’re willing to share! Food 🥘 Please bring your dog’s food for his or her stay; this is really all you need 😀 We give high-quality, grain-free treats to dogs who have permission. Dogs are strictly observed during meals and are not given an opportunity to take the food of others (or to quarrel about it;) We will follow your dietary guidelines precisely! 🐶🐶 How Many Dogs Do We Keep?🐶🐶 We keep up to 4 dogs at a time, the vast majority of the year. We stretch to 6 at a time on certain weekends or holidays. This is our max, however, as the average number of dogs at one time is actually about 1-3 at any given time. The first 4 months of every year is our slowest, and there are many days we have no furry guests booked. Most of our clients are regulars who have been coming for years and know each other like family, so it’s usually very quiet in our house. We take safety very seriously and will not jeopardise the health or safety of any dog. If for any reason you have a small dog and are concerned about our old German Shepherd, please come for a meet and greet so you can observe him with your dog. Jackson loves little dogs (and children!), and likes to protect them. Little dogs are also given special privileges, including a spot on the bed at night and a separate potty and play area if owner desires.

Information Dominique & Michael Q. would like to know about your pet
Medical Needs ? We can accommodate many medical conditions. If your dog has diabetes, we’ll conduct a ‘working’ meet and greet to become familiar with your testing and dosing routines. We can accommodate set dosing or sliding scales, and are familiar with both veterinary and human insulin. VERY IMPORTANT ⚠️ We are unable to take dogs with separation anxiety (to the degree that the dog is inconsolable, disruptive or destructive). If the anxiety is mild or you’re just not sure, we conduct a daycare to become familiar with your dog ahead of boarding; the charge for this ‘test’ daycare is just $10 (when you send the daycare request, we reduce the rate before you book). We cannot take any dog with any history of aggression. Accidents: If you tell us your dog doesn’t have accidents (habitual/behavioural) and he or she does demonstrate this pattern while with us, it will go onto his or her profile on Rover to warn other sitters going forward. Rover has instituted this ability to review pets now due to the hesitancy pet sitters have demonstrated in the past for giving an accurate report to pet parents about their dogs' behaviour. Of course there are sitters who are still hesitant to use this process, so please be aware that it is possible you will get different reports from different sitters. If your previous sitter wasn't forthcoming about your dog's behaviors, that’s a red flag your dog was crated and/or your sitter is more concerned about retaliation than giving an accurate report for your benefit and that of other sitters. We are a free-roam household, and cannot take dogs with a known history of household (regular, behavioral, or medically-related) accidents. If you need boarding and your dog house soils, he or she may come with the agreement he or she will be crated when not in yard exercise or during meals. No other guests are crated without owner permission and awareness. We can only take 'high energy' dogs if they are high-energy outdoors only; wild indoor behavior (knocking things or people over, jumping on tables) is not a fit for our home. Outdoor play is encouraged and not hindered, so long as everyone is safe. There is a rough play that is very normal and healthy in dogs, and it’s easily distinguishable from actual aggression. Please don’t worry, we understand the difference and are very in-tune to dogs’ behaviour and needs. - Final Word ✏️ Dogs don't have to be social, they just need to be able to share space with one another and be at peace. Many of our regulars are solitary dogs who love to spend time alone or with people most, while also being very pleasant around other dogs when present. Mike and I value our relationship with you and your dog(s), and you can count on our transparency and quality care.
A typical day
Exercise: Your dog will have plenty of gentle stimulation and exercise in our yard. There will be 1-3 other dogs usually, and back yard play is a lot of fun! Your dog(s) will probably take a long nap when they return home. *We do not walk dogs in the community anymore. This decision was made recently in light of increased crime (people stealing dogs, etc.) and varying levels of leash behaviour that greatly increase the risk of escape. If you have a dog who is well-behaved on a leash and needs walks specifically, we can do this on our street and not venture into the neighbourhood.
