I am a retired canine behaviorist and dog trainer and a best-selling author of 14 time, award-winning book, Think Like Your Dog and Enjoy the Rewards. I am also the former owner of 3 award-winning pet resorts, 2 in Washington state and another in Texas. Today I enjoy raising my twin 13 year old boys and in my free time helping pet owners with their animal friends.

I live on 21 acres of old growth forest and have a pond, two creeks and plenty of gorgeous walking trails. As the acreage is too much to fence completely, I have chosen to fence in air pens for potty breaks and do all of our nature hikes on leash.

A typical day
Nature hikes here in the Pacific Northwest is a favorite activity for pets as well as myself and a great way I get my steps in every day. Some dogs do in great in a playgroup where some dogs may not at all. I also enjoy playing olfactory games with some dogs as their system is about 150 million times keener than man. All of the above are great ways to get exercise as well as mental stimulation for the brain. I find mental stimulation wears a dog out quicker than extensive physical exercise.

Availability
After selling one of our pet resorts in 2018 and the other two in 2020, I have chosen to not work outside the home and instead focus on and enjoy our twin boys. My days consist of getting my boys off to the school bus in the morning and retrieving them again in the afternoon. Occasionally I get to shuffle them to a sport practice. I have the luxury of the rest of my day to myself and continue to enjoy helping pet owners with their animal friends.
