I would not recommend leaving your dog here. It’s extremely unlike me to leave negative reviews because I typically try to give the benefit of the doubt but honestly, I would not want anyone to have to deal with what I did. When I dropped off Athena, the sitter brought out her two dogs to meet Athena. While one dog was perfectly fine, the other was snarling and trying to bite Athena to the point that she was hiding behind me. I was hesitant to leave her there, but the sitter tried to reassure me that her dog was only behaving like that because she brought them both out at the same time. I had no other options as the previous sitter I had booked had a family emergency and my flight was later this day, so I left her. The sitter rarely updated me during the stay which typically wouldn’t necessarily bother me because I’d rather someone focus on taking care of my dog instead of worrying about updating me but once I picked her up, I knew why I hadn’t been updated. When I picked up Athena, she was covered in poop. I was told that she had just had an accident as soon as I pulled up which seemed odd because she rarely (read never) has accidents but I thought okay, maybe she was stressed out, we were gone for almost 5 days. I took her home and immediately showered her and there was so much poop crusted on her bottom that when I washed her, she started bleeding. She had a scratch by her eye, her nose was red with scratches, and over the next few days I would continue to find scratches and cuts all over her. Her crate was covered in poop as well—it’s as though she was left in her crate all day and forced to use the bathroom there. Athena was trembling and so lethargic the first two days at home (keep in mind she’s 1 year old so for her not to bounce around all day is very very out of character). So, anyways while I was as trying to rationalize why this might have happened I realized that I will never leave Athena here again and honestly, felt compelled to share this experience so others could make an informed decision.
