Pet care experience
I can't think of a time in my life when I didn't have pets to care for. From a giant malamute to a 6lbs chiweenie, I've definitely had my fair share of baths to give, dinners to make, walks to take and training sessions galore. I'm hoping to expand my expertise and eventually help rehabilitate fearful and aggressive dogs. Pre-pandemic I was working at a doggy daycare and I absolutely fell in love. Handling 50+ dogs a day is intense but it was definitely worth the fur that lined my shoes after every day. Right now I've got two chihuahua dachshunds that absolutely make my days. They set my bedtime and when I wake up, and dictate whether or not we go out and explore the neighborhood. (Couch potatoes.) I am comfortable administering medication (as long as there are no needles) and I know how to dislodge any blockages if a dog is choking. All dogs are leashed when outdoors, and I keep necessary supplies on me when we are out. Because of my time in the doggy daycare, I am comfortable breaking up dog fights if necessary and I have spent a lot of time watching a dog's behavior throughout the day to recognize any signs of distress or discomfort.

I have never met anyone who genuinely understands the language of dogs like DesiRae does. I've watched her with dogs many people would just write off as "difficult" and begin laying the groundwork for sustainable training and trusting care within just an hour or two of meeting them. You can rest assured that she will genuinely get to know your dog and your family because she understands that pet ownership is a relationship, and that all healthy relationships require communication, patience, and love.

I am able to sit in your home, and drive/walk wherever is best for your dog. If they prefer to stay in the yard, that's not an issue, but I LOVE giving them the chance to explore. Outings in big, open fields on a long lead are my favorite. I do request specific instructions for feeding, exercise, meds, etc just to make sure the care your dog receives matches their needs.

Please let me know if there are any specific details when it comes to your dog's health or behavior that may come in handy to know. Especially things like seizures, vision or hearing impairment, reactivity, and anxiety. Knowing what to expect can make it much easier to address these things if they come up!
A typical day
I am equipped to drive your pups out to whatever park or trail you prefer, but I frequent Frick Park and North Park. I can either walk them on their own leashes, or hang out in an open area on a longer lead (I believe mine is a 20 foot) to play or relax. I keep toys, leads, treats, and cleanup supplies with me to make sure any hiccups are handled.

Availability
I work part time, and in my time off I try to get out with my pup at least a few times a week. He is an incredibly anxious rescue so our outings are typically in quiet, low traffic areas. Having plenty of openness in my schedule, I can usually stay to sit for a full day at a time. Please ask- I'm flexible and I'd love to make something work!
