Hello, future puppy pals! We're Des and Fel, a bilingual (English/Spanish) lesbian couple in the Fishtown neighborhood. We're animal people, and both have lifelong experience with various creatures. Seriously. So many creatures! We currently live with two dogs: Canelita (7), a Chihuahua mix, and Dolly Parton (2), a Bernese Mountain Dog. We also have two cats, Ben and Gus (both 7). Expect that your dog will have new friends when they stay with us! We have lots of toys to play with, one million treats for good behavior, a small backyard to run in circles, and a dog-friendly couch. We're also prime snugglers for the pooch who needs affection. We don't have anything against specific breeds or sizes of dogs—happy to hang with any dog who's friendly to other animals! Between the two of us, someone is home for a majority of the day, but we may leave for 6-8 hour stints occasionally (usually in the evening). We frequently petsit for friends, and truly love hanging out with animals. We joined Rover because the student debt struggle is real, y'all!

Dese’Rae has cared for our beloved, elderly dachshund, Elvis, several times when we have been out of town and I cannot emphasize enough how well cared for he has been throughout the duration of each stay. She has always been a solid communicator and very attentive to his specific needs around diet and activity. We received regular photo updates via text to share with us all of the fun Elvis was having while we were gone. I would 100% recommend Dese’Rae as a pet sitter to anyone interested.
Dese'Rae is like a second mom to our pups! Whenever we're out of town for a few days, we always know our dogs are in good hands.
Des and Fel bring absolute joy to all the furry creatures they encounter! They are the wonderful mamas of 2 spunky dogs and 2 kitties, one of which has special needs and they tend to with loving care. Des and Fel have been able to care for my creatures (fish, dog, cat) on several occasions (one of which needs meds) and I have been very happy with not only the care they provided but with their ability to communicate with me about their status while I am away. Anytime they visit, they love seeing them. I can't recommend them enough as caregivers for your fur babies. :)

We would love to know whatever you think is worth sharing about your dog. Ideally, we're looking to hang with pooches who don't have any huge behavioral issues, and it's IMPERATIVE that your pup be cat/dog friendly. Our dogs don't have any food/toy guarding behaviors and are friendly with one another, so we would need to know in advance if your dog exhibits these behaviors to take necessary precautions. We're also a free feed home, so we would also want to know if that's a no-no for you.
A typical day
We're pretty laid back in our approach. If you want your dog to have some hangout buddies, this is the place to be. Our dogs have the run of our home when we're here, and your dog will too. Backyard potty breaks and playtime happen every hour or two.
