Full-Time Pet Care in Berkeley

Pet care experience

Since I was 11, I have been the proud carer of a delightful Toy Poodle. Over the last 12 years, my responsibilities have included everything from routine feeding and grooming to managing senior pet health issues. He was diagnosed with IVDD couple years ago, and I’ve been learning to better manage the symptoms. I started cooking for him to fit his nutritional needs. This long-term, hands-on experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the day-to-day care that pets require to thrive. What truly sets me apart is my consistent presence and attention. Currently on a break after graduating from UC Berkeley, I am uniquely available to provide nearly 24/7 care. This constant companionship ensures that your pet will receive continuous attention and care. Additionally, my experience with a senior dog has taught me how to be particularly sensitive to the unique needs of older pets, making me a great choice for those who require extra care. One thing I want to note is I do not drive, so drop off and pick up would be highly appreciated for day care. I am available for drop-ins and dog walking up to 2 miles from the UC Berkeley campus/downtown Berkeley

I’m Derek’s mother. From the moment Derek took responsibility for Brownie back when he was just a young boy in primary school, his dedication to his beloved dog has been nothing short of remarkable. Over the years, I've witnessed a level of patience and commitment from Derek that goes beyond the ordinary, often exceeding even my own patience when he was a toddler. One vivid memory that stands out is from Derek's middle school years in China, a period when the academic pressure was immense. He would leave home early, before 6 AM, and wouldn't return until after 7 PM. One morning, in his rush to catch the bus, Derek forgot to say goodbye to Brownie. He spent the entire day distressed and guilty, worried about how Brownie might have felt. This incident might seem small, but it highlights his deep empathy and consideration for Brownie's feelings, even amidst his own stressful schedule. When Derek moved to the United States for college, he made the significant decision to bring Brownie with him, a testament to his unwavering commitment. Adjusting to a new country is challenging enough, but Derek ensured that Brownie was by his side. During college, he sacrificed much of his social life, choosing instead to spend his time caring for Brownie, making sure his furry friend felt at home in their new environment. Seeing Derek grow and continue to prioritize Brownie’s well-being with such dedication has been a source of great pride for me. I sincerely believe that Derek’s compassion and understanding towards animals make him exceptionally suited to care for any pet, as he always treats them with the utmost love and respect, just as he has always done for Brownie.

I've known Derek since our college days, and I've always been amazed by the extraordinary care he provides for his dog, Brownie. Observing Derek with Brownie isn't just watching someone look after their pet; it's witnessing a deep and genuine bond of friendship and responsibility. Derek truly believes that dogs possess the intellectual and emotional capacity of a three-year-old child, and he interacts with them on that level. This philosophy shines through in every interaction he has with Brownie. Derek's commitment to his dog's well-being was never more apparent than during multiple crisis when Brownie needed emergency care, as well as surgeries and long term rehabs . Despite being a student with limited financial means, Derek did not hesitate to ensure that Brownie received the best care, which multiple bills amounted to thousands of dollars. His actions during stressful times spoke volumes about his character and his unconditional love for his pet. Watching Derek care for Brownie with such patience and understanding, akin to a parent with a toddler, is truly heartwarming. His empathetic approach to pet care, treating them as equals and understanding their needs deeply, sets a standard that is rare and admirable. I wholeheartedly believe that any dog would be incredibly fortunate to be under Derek's care, knowing they would be treated with the utmost love and respect.

I’ve had the pleasure of embarking on numerous road trips with Derek and his beloved dog, and I can wholeheartedly say that they have been some of the most enjoyable adventures I’ve experienced. Derek is not just a fantastic friend but also an exemplary pet owner. His deep care and attention towards his dog’s needs are evident in everything he does, from meticulously preparing his dog’s travel kit to ensuring all the stops along our route have spaces where his dog can stretch, play, and relax. Derek’s planning skills are impeccable. He always ensures that accommodations are pet-friendly and that the day’s activities include something fun for his furry friend. His ability to balance the joy of travel with the responsibilities of pet care is truly commendable. Whether it’s managing a spontaneous change in plans or handling his dog’s needs in unfamiliar surroundings, Derek does it with patience and a smile. Traveling with Derek and his dog doesn’t just mean having a good time—it means creating memorable moments in a thoughtful and organized way. His companionship, both human and canine, makes every mile more enjoyable. I can’t wait for our next road trip together!
