Hello, my name is Derek, and I am a Pet Sitter through Rover. I have been working in Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Assistant for 5 years. I am also one of our hospital Shift Leads. I am currently pursuing my degree to be come a Registered Veterinary Technician. My time in Veterinary Medicine has introduced me to tons of creatures I never thought I'd get to see -- I've worked in general practice with Dogs, Cats, and Small Animals and completed one year with a local Veterinary Exotics Specialty Hospital. My heart lies with general practice, so I have returned to working with Cats, Dogs, and Small Mammals. I have experience with Birds of Prey, Small Animal, Reptile/Amphibians, Dogs, Cats, Big Cats, etc. My pets include: Cordelia, a 1 year old, Polydactyl Tortoise shell Cat; Roo, an 8 month old retriever mix; and my betta fish: Frank With that being said, I will be opening my schedule to drop in visits, dog walking, and house sitting (assuming you're okay with my companion Roo tagging along! She's very friendly and enjoys other dog companions. She has many friends she has made through pet sitting.) I am skilled with administering subcutaneous injections, intramusculuar injections, oral medications, expressing anal glands, pedicures, teaching basic command training, etc. Animals are my life, my joy, and my passion. Derek took great care of our three girls while we were out of town on relatively short notice. He is personable, punctual, attentive, followed all of the written instructions to the letter, and the girls really warmed up to him quickly - which is unusual. We will continue to use Derek for our dog sitting needs for the foreseeable future. Thank you Derek, you are awesome.
After using commercial kennels in the area with mixed success, we were able to get a referral from our vet office for Derek. After reaching out to Derek, we were able to setup a dates for Derek to board our 20 lbs Cavapoo, Bella. Bella stayed in Derek's care for over a week. Derek was excellent at keeping us up to date with Bella, via text during our trip. Upon picking her up, Bella was the same happy dog that we left in Derek's care. We were more than happy with the care that Derek provided and would use his services again!
Derek is the best! Jäger is special needs (he had a stroke and has trouble walking somedays, is bowel and bladder incontinent and wears diapers) and Derek goes above and beyond when watching him. I am a hover doggie mom and I don't leave Jäger with just anyone, I am serious ya'll like Jäger is only left with people I trust. Derek is very trustworthy, responsible, and sends you pictures throughout your pet's stay with him. I won't leave Jäger with anyone else, I actually changed dates for my vacation because Derek wasn't able to watch him for the first dates I picked. You do not have to worry about your fur-babies while you are away when Derek is watching them. Do your self a favor and trust me and pick Derek as your new Dog sitter!
I'd give more than five stars if i could!! I left my puppy with Derek for a long weekend and he had so much fun! Derek was awesome, he continued the training I've been doing with my puppy and treated him like a member of the family. I got a lot of photos and videos of my dog's stay as well as regular updates. Truly couldn't have asked for a better experience.

A typical day
Jordan Lake, Dorthea Dix, Pullen Park, you name it - if you pup has a favorite place we can go there too! Roo loves going on adventures and being in the car. She would great enjoy a car ride companion and adventure buddy.
