Pet care experience
As long as I can remember I always wanted to work with dogs. Growing up we always had Labs. Jibby, a black Lab, was there for the first 12 years of my life. In fact, my earliest memories are of Jibby. Next was Coco, a chocolate Lab, who for 15 years owned my heart. I took her everywhere. Finally there was Jack, a black Lab who despite unfortunate medical issues, remained a puppy his entire 10 years with us. I was in charge of walking, feeding, and caring for these dogs everyday since I was able. Currently, I have a Boston Terrier named Brodie. Anyone who knows me knows how much of a dog person I am, as I treat their dogs as I would my own. With that, I have regular dog sitting, walking and drop-in experience with some of their dogs ranging from Cockapoos to Rottweilers and everything in between. Aside from my own 40+ years experience as a dog owner and caring for the dogs of my friends, I also have schooling. In 2017, I completed a dog grooming course in London Ontario, and ever since I have been bathing and deShedding dogs in a busy professional grooming shop. In my 6+ years at this shop, I have dealt with several different breeds and dogs of all sizes, ages, needs and temperaments. While I have a penchant for larger breeds, there is no dog I can say no to. Currently, I'm available for walks and drop-ins at all times after 11am, except for most Monday mornings and afternoons. I do try and keep my rover calendar up to date for any possible changes.

Safety, trust & environment
I will always abide by what the client wants me to do for their pets. Taking pets into my home isn't really a viable option right now, though I might make exceptions, based on the pet in question. When I am in someone's home to care for their pet, I always abide by the owners instructions, catering to the needs of their pet, of course. Experience, respect and basic common sense go a long way.
Information Dennis L. would like to know about your pet
Whether or not they have any specific needs or instructions I need to follow. How are they around other dogs, or people, we might encounter on a walk. Their age is usually important. A good idea of breed specific traits is often very good information, I always read up on breeds that are new to me. Any helpful commands they might know can come in handy. Whether they're leash trained or not, as well as seeing the equipment I will be using, like harnesses for example. Special dietary needs might come into it if they get treats, or if I need to feed them.
A typical day
What a typical walk usually consists of: I tend to keep a playful disposition when I interact with dogs. Parks are usually the best places for walks, but every park, every neighborhood and every dog is different. After a handful of walks, I can usually figure out the dogs personality and what they like to do, and I try to accommodate that as best as I can for them. Treats, when allowed by the owner, are great motivators for most dogs. Photos are a fun part of walks for me. Afterword, I bring them home, lock everything up that needs to be locked up, and send the owner a quick message, usually with one or two of the best photos attached. Reviews, while not necessary, are always appreciated.
