Pet care experience
I've taken care of my own dog for 10+ years, but I have been trusted to take care of furry little loved one for years before that and after. While living in Chicago, my previous roommate ran his own pet sitting business (15+ pets daily!) and all were fed, hydrated, and walked when he needed the backup. I've lived with pets for so many years and cities, that they're all just part of my extended family.

Although I do not offer at home pet stays, I do have a house that is perfectly safe for them. There are three pets, including my own, that live here, and everyone has been safe 100% of the time I've lived here. When considering the safety of your family members, I prefer to have a meeting first to get to know one another. This way I understand your dogs needs and behavioral profile. For more established clients, I ask that owners give me every detail they can regarding how they behave with other dogs, their diet (if included in the service request), any injuries or lingering issues, etc. Essentially, I get to know the dog like my own so that walks are as smooth, clean, and safe as possible.

Please tell me how they work with other dogs. What gets them riled up, scares them, makes them nervous, etc. I've got keen eyes and will keep an eye out for any triggers. Also, please let me know of any dietary issues if you request that I feed them.
A typical day
If the owner allows for it, I'll allow dogs to meet and greet one another. I let them soak in the world around them, one sniff at a time. We can go as fast or slow as the pup wants to go. Happy to sneak in a few commands with any owner-provided treats.

Pet sitting and walking is ideal as it gives me an excuse to get away from the computer where I conduct much of my research. That work is primarily work-from-home so I have a lot of flexibility and autonomy.
