Pet care experience
Hello there! As a devoted dog enthusiast with a lifelong love for our four-legged friends, I bring a blend of personal experience and professional dedication to every walk. Having owned dogs throughout my life, including a giant over 100 lbs, I am fully dedicated to the fact that dogs are family and deserve to be treated as such. For the past four years, I've volunteered as a dog walker at two different animal shelters, where my commitment to canine well-being has flourished. My approach is simple but profound: I love every dog I walk as if they were my own. This means not just meeting their physical exercise needs but connecting with them on a personal level, ensuring each stroll is filled with joy, care, and the utmost attention. Some of these dogs are small and shy, and need time gaining familiarity before getting to the trust stage. Other dogs are big and jumpy, and need a distraction to get a leash on. I've been around all types, and have found happiness in helping all of them! Being at animal shelters and walking so many dogs each week has taught me the ability to read dog's body language and pick up on what the dog really wants to do. Is it a high energy outlet day? Do we need to chase tennis balls and play tug of war? Or are we interested in sitting in the grass and getting belly rubs? A slow walk for the one that wants to move but needs to take their time? The goal is to make these dogs happy doing what they want to do. Your pup's happiness and safety are my top priorities. Whether it's a leisurely stroll, an energetic play session, or simply providing some extra belly rubs, I'm dedicated to making every walk a tail-wagging adventure. Let's embark on a journey of joy and companionship together! 🐾
Reviews
Zinnia had a great time with Delanie and her dog - and we enjoyed all the cute pictures she sent. They went out and did lots of fun things, it was like my dog got a vacation while we were on our vacation. I felt confident that my dog was safe and comfortable while we were gone. She was happy to see us when we picked her up, but no signs of any stress for this pup that doesn’t like to be away from her people. We will definitely bring her back to Delanie whenever we travel without her or if we have a long day away from home. The arrangements for the meet and greet, drop off and pick up were smooth and easy, Delanie replied quickly and was flexible to work with my schedule.
I would highly recommend Delanie in caring for your pet. It's obvious she's a true animal lover. I booked a week with her for my little fur baby after an initial booking at a "corporate" daycare fell through when he did not have an updated flu vaccine. She took him for walks and sent plenty of pics! My fur baby was happy and tired when he came home each evening ;-).
One of the friendliest sitters I've met. I won't blame my dog if he runs away to her
Delanie is very flexible and has great communication! I highly recommend her.

I am currently in an apartment with my own 20 pound dog. We live by lots of trails and go for about 4 walks per day. We do also go to a local park in the morning and throw the ball there for some sprints, but use a 100' lead to ensure no getaways.

Information Delanie S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about behaviors before meeting your dog. Are they shy / fearful? Will they need some time to warm up? I would also love to know what their favorite form of exercise is, or if they're more interested in just collecting all the pets they can.
A typical day
In the mornings (around 6AM) my husband and I walk our dog to a local park and throw the tennis ball for him (on a 100' lead) to get some good sprinting in. In the mid-morning (around 10AM) we head out for a walk on some trails around our complex. Mid-afternoon (around 1PM) is time for another walk, and length will depend on the heat of the day. In the evenings, we like to go to the dog park and end with a longer walk when it's cooler outside. Our schedule is flexible to dog's needs!

I am a civil engineer that works a full time job. I work additional hours Monday-Thursday so that I can have extra hours away from work on Fridays. I've typically used those extra hours as volunteer hours, but recently moved down to Orange County and am now spending those hours with Rover.
