Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Delaney! I am a 20 year-old Los Angeles native, but I now live in Houston, Texas to attend Rice University where I am majoring in Computer Science and Cognitive Science and minoring in Spanish. As you can tell, I have my nerdy side, but no title better describes me than "animal lover." While I am a "dog person," I have 15 years of vast experience with all types of pets; my heart truly does not discriminate. My experience extends across my own various beloved companions. Two cherished dogs, Jake and Ruby, were integral parts of my childhood. During their lifetime, I cared for both puppies and senior dogs. Additionally, I have owned and cared for large dogs (a standard poodle), 3 cats, 2 bunnies, and even hermit crabs. Lastly, I have ridden, competed, and cared for horses since the age of 7. In total, I have probably spent more of my life on four hooves than two feet. These experiences have taught me invaluable lessons in patience, attentiveness, responsibility, and the importance of building trusting relationships with animals and in turn, shaped me into a conscientious and dedicated caregiver I am today. I have full confidence I am the girl for you, capable of empathically addressing the diverse needs of your pet!

I love how professional Delaney is!! She is very attentive, smart and responsible. My one year old Labrador can be a little too much sometimes and Delaney is very patience and loving. I cannot thank her enough for being available so quick during an emergency. I am so glad I found her and I highly recommend her!!

Delaney was absolutely amazing! It was our first time leaving our baby pup to go out of town, I was very nervous. She did a great job doing drop ins. She updated us with pictures and texts throughout it all! I highly recommend ! If we leave again, she will be our girl!

My care philosophy is that the owner's comfort and preferences determine how I care for the pet. I am able to adapt my care to typical care, requests, and preferences of each dog owner. Of course, at a minimum, I always make sure your fur-baby has all the food, water, exercise, love, and attention they need. I walk all dogs on a leash and always keep a close-eye on them if/when they freely roam the house or yard.

Please let me know if anything in particular makes your dog nervous or if it has tendencies to bite, run, scratch etc. I can care for special needs dogs, but having overview of typical care and the condition is appreciated.
A typical day
I love to take dogs on walks to explore the neighborhood. Playing fetch is always fun, and basic obedient training is great to mix it up, too. If the dog likes to cuddle, I love to lay down with them and give belly rubs.

Availability
I am student at Rice University and attend classes throuhgout the academic year. However, these are usually only a couple of hours in the afternoon. My other commitments are flexible and can build around caring for your pet! My mornings and evenings are free for dog walks, and I have full freedom to drive to you for pet check-ins or overnight care.
