Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, & goats. I absolutely love animals, & have been petsitting for most of my adult life. It's an honor to care for and create safety for them when you go away. I like to hear about their habits, routine and personalities, so I can best match it. I love to get to know them, as they are pure love! I have been a petsitter, dog walker, and care taker of animals growing up, and for 26+ years, professionally. I'm neat, clean, meticulous, and fastidious, and will do what's necessary to help you and your pet feel safe. I have started using the word "Kahu" as part of my work. In Hawaiian culture, Kahu means: Guardian, protector, steward, beloved attendant, basically someone entrusted with the safekeeping of something precious. Something cherished, what a Kahu protects is not their property. What they protect is a part of their soul. This resonates with me.
Reviews
Took really good care of our boy Howie. Kept us well Informed during the entire stay.
Debra was truly phenomenal! We have one senior dog who requires careful medication management, and another dog who tends to be shy. Debra took such good care of both dogs. They were happy and healthy when we came home. We definitely recommend her.
Debra was excellent. She cared wonderfully for our Golden and sent us amazing updates so we could relax and know our baby girl was happy and having fun!
Debra was great! She kept open communication before, during, and after the visit, which I appreciated. She sent pictures. The pups seemed to really like her, and she even spent some extra time with them after her scheduled visit was over. We will definitely book with her again!

I always ask my clients to leave a directive that I call "A Day in the Life of..." This is a schedule of what happens in your pet's day in chronological order. Do they eat first, or go outside first? What time do you typically get up and go to bed? Do they expect a treat at a certain time? Also, at our meet and greet, I will ask questions to get to know your fur baby better, so that I can best match schedule, house rules, feeding, etc. I also have both an animal first aid/CPR certification, as well as one for humans.
Information Debra F. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. I'm happy to help! As a Certified Massage Therapist and bodyworker, I have even worked on animals with pain, strokes and injuries, and made amazing headway. Of course, those may be separate services. ;-)
A typical day
I believe I have a balance between fun, love and discipline. I will work to maintain "consistent parenting", so if your animals need reminders about rules and boundaries, I will be happy to know that and ask that of them. I was a preschool teacher for 7 years, and bring that same gentleness, compassion and consistency to the table with animals as well. I talk with them, and interact with them to recognize who they are. The fun part will be adventures outdoors, or inside play, checking out games, smells, and lots of pats and snuggles!

Availability
I'm currently self employed working part time, so when you book me on Rover, I will make time to feed, walk, visit and play with your animals at your homes and I’d love to do it, if it seems like a fit for both of us! I'm reliable, clean, on time, and compassionate with animals, and work to give them what they need. I work at home with a laptop. When I stay at your house, I bring my overnight bag, and my laptop, so I can do business there. All I need is wifi access. I can stay at your house, or can come up to three times a day, as you deem needed. I work to personalize each stay, and individual situation.
