Big Dog Love!

Pet care experience

Welcome to my pack! I'm Debi, with 45 years experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes, from puppies to seniors. I have 2 dogs, Bentley, my 11 year old Blackmouth Cur, and Dually, my 7 y/o Sable GSD. I have a deep love for all dogs, and especially enjoy sport and working dogs that "need a job". I also enjoy spoiling them! Brushing, walking, hiking, throwing a ball, a stick or playing tug, I can be as gentle (or alpha) as needed to ensure your dog is feels safe and loved.

Great dog sitter! Awesome with updates. Kind and caring. She made our dog feel right at home. Highly recommended!

I've known Debra for many years and would trust her completely with my dogs' care. I know they would be loved and well cared for. Dogs have always been central to her family and she is my go-to for doggie advice. True and responsible dog lover!

Safety, trust & environment

I can dog sit at my home or yours. If at my homestead, your dog will be spoiled with a two-acre electric fenced yard or long-leash under shade trees, with walks and hikes on our 6 acres of private conservation ground. Indoors, the pack has the run of the house, the bed, the couch. Bentley and Dually are good with other dogs, but if your pooch is feeling shy or uncertain we have sequstered spaces and places to ensure everyone is safe and happy. That s I'm very much a fan of proper crate training- especially when puppies are new and in the potty training stage. Both my dogs are crate trained, leash-trained, off-leash trained, and understand and obey these commands: Up, Load, Down, Sit, Stay, Come, Yes, Good, No, Wait, Off, Out, Shake, High Five and Back. Additionally, Bentley understands Left, Right, and Straight. If you'd like help with any of these, I'm available, or will reinforce your commands and style. Consistency is key.

Information Debra C. would like to know about your pet

I don't have a dog type preference, really. All our dogs of the last 30 years have come to us via re-home needs or animal shelters. The most important thing to know is that I will take time to build trust with your dog. At the beginning, we won't know each other, so what and happens the first visit will be vastly different than the 15th visit.

A typical day

Fun activities will be geared to the age and breed of dog. Every canine -and canine age- is different. A puppy that is learning potty training and leash walking will have a mix of stimulation and rest. Done properly, learning basic commands (Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Out, Heel, Off) *is* "play". Creative walks (think up and down stadium benches) provide agility opportunities, finding a dog safe essential oil cotton ball under a cup for a scent-work "find-it" game. That said, it is possible to over-stimulate a dog, especially one that is dealing with a new environment, anxiety, or insecurity - so sometimes the proper answer is to just let them lay around and do nothing. Of course, all dogs need brushing and tummy rubs! Dog park visits are dependent on their "come when called" response, general health, and vaccination status. I would not take your dog to a dog park without consulting you.
