Dog,Cat,Wild Animal Experience

Pet care experience

I worked at a wildlife center for several years, and became a bobcat handler/trainer. I also worked with stray dogs and cats, plus various forest animals at a wildlife center. I have always loved animals since i was a child and have worked with them ever since. From cattle to horses and various smaller farm animals, every animal I have worked with found a special place in my heart. I treat them all as though they were mine and my animals are my children. I have 2 dogs, a lab, and a great pyrenees plus a bearded dragon. I can give oral medication and injections. I have worked with dogs with behavioral problems, such as various forms of aggression, anxiety, and phobias. I can not wait to meet your pet!

I have known Deborah all her life. Since she was able to walk, she showed an interest in animals. By the age of 10 she was caring for pets and bottle-feeding a calf with little assistance. She not only loves her animals, but has a deep desire to take care of them and make sure they are healthy. She has a special intuition about animals, especially her dogs. She knows when they are sick, sad, upset, happy, and scared. She usually figures out what is causing it. Our vet said she was very observant because she always tells him exactly what he needs to know to help our animals. An example would be finding a tumor in her cow’s mouth that no one else could see, even after she told us. She had to go and open the cow’s mouth in order to show us. We rescued a pit, named Ziggy, which was neglected and very withdrawn. She helped us work with him and advised us how to handle some of his problems. He has grown to become a very loving pet. Ziggy has a health problem and has to take a pill a day. When Deborah keeps him for us she always gives him his pill. Ziggy and Bonnie, our other dog, love spending time with Deborah and her family. They get so excited when we take them for a visit, or when she comes to visit us. Every time I have a question about our dogs, I call Deborah before I call the vet. I worry too much about little things and she always sets me at ease. Also, she is capable of giving shots; she gives our dogs their yearly shots, except for the rabies, of course. Just letting you know she is capable of giving shots if your dog has to get shots on a daily basis. You will not go wrong with Deborah. Most animals love her at first visit, and if not she will win them over.

Where do I even start? There is not enough room on the internet to write all of the great things about this woman! I started out as her boss when she was barely 12 years old, hiding behind her dad and scared to say two words. I have watched her for now over a decade blossom into one of the finest humans on earth. In a world of self centered lazy youth, Deb is a nonstop dynamic powerhouse whirlwind of happiness, dedication, love, honesty and humor. Although shy at first, she is always the center of attention in groups of loved ones. Deb became the first ever Master Handler at The National Bobcat Rescue and Research Center in Terrell, Tx, and she continues to be an inspiration to droves of volunteers since. She is a lead supervisor at Crosstimbers Wildlife Center, inc., also in Terrell, and the Lead supervisor of the Bobcat Search and Rescue Team helping find injured wild bobcats and bringing them to the rescue where they can be cared for until they are able to be released again. Deb has an innate understanding of animals. Species is no matter. She just understands them ALL. And they all love her. She has developed so much trust here at our center that she is the only person I allow to run the ranch in my stead. She has been doing so since she was 18 years old. This is no small task since we help over 5000 mammals annually. This girl, turned woman, can handle anything! Watching her grow up, get married, have a child, be a mother, create a career, and still be the apple of her parents eye ~ how many people can do that in this day and age? To be fair, although I am decades older than she is, Deborah has been my best friend for many years. She is wise and kind far beyond her years. I have trusted her with my personal animals and both of my businesses. I have repeatedly tried to hire her here, but being a mother will, and should, always come first. The center is just too far away for her to comfortably commit to both, therefore, I will instead support her in ANYTHING she chooses to do. I would be happy to have a seasonal conversation with anyone interested in hiring her or helping her start her own home based business. As a side note, her son, Gunner, has the same incredible gift with and love for animals. HE is often her sidekick and is always perfectly behaved around the hundreds of animals at the center. I guess it is easy for me to recommend Deb for anything she wishes to do. She is capable, competent, confident, and would be a benefit to ANY team. She is also a self starter and requires little direction and no supervision. She is a true gift. I can keep going, but you get the picture!😉
