I've grown up with dogs all my life, and love them dearly. I have no problem walking, feeding, playing, and spending time with them. Unfortunately my current dog, sophie, at just 4 years old had severe herniated disc last year. The process was absolute hell in many many ways, but luckily with surgery, she is no longer in pain. This being said, I know what it's like to care for a disabled dog. I am intimate with the ins and outs of it on a daily basis. My dog will likely never walk again, even after many forms of therapy, and that is okay. She still lives a very happy life and has her own set of doggy wheels that she uses to move around.
