Pet care experience
I love animals of all shapes and sizes! I have been working at a veterinary clinic for about ten years now. Last year we added a non fur child to our home. I work part time so I have plenty of time to be home with my fur babies (and yours!). I have six horses at home as well as two cats (who generally live in our basement and do not interact with dogs) and two dogs. While I am home, dogs are allowed all over the house. When I leave, dogs are kept in our large mud room. Our mud room has everything to make a dog feel comfortable: cots, blankets, water, toys. Unfortunately, our fenced in yard blew over this past year, so we have tie outs, kennels, and we also leash walk. We hope to have it fixed soon.

I cannot express enough the wonderful care my dog Willow received during her vacation. I was very anxious leaving her for the first time and especially with people she did not know. I got updates and photos daily. I was able to take her familiar bedding and toys and treats. I am also great full that she got her eye med ointment every day.

Our situation is ideal for the older, lazier or more nervous dogs that may not do well in a busy kennel setting. Because we do not have a fenced in yard, dogs that need lots of off leash time are not ideal. Dogs do get walked and outdoor time, but also lots of snuggles. Dogs that may be reactive to children or horses are not preferred.
A typical day
I do often take my 1 year old for walks in the stroller and will take well behaved dogs with us. We have a service road near our house we walk on often or a nature preserve and bike path just down the street that we also frequent with our dog friends.

Availability
Our dogs generally wake up for breakfast around 6am. We feed everyone and let everyone outside. I let all the dogs out again before I leave for work around noon. My husband feeds everyone and lets them back out around 5 and we do a final let out before bedtime around 9. While we are working on the horse farm and the weather is nice, dogs have the option to hang out in our dog kennels that are connected to our garage (some dogs enjoy watching the horses or sunning themselves while we keep an eye on them). My husband works from home 2 days a week and I have off 2 days a week, so pretty much every day one of us is home/working from home. Also, if there is a day we both go into the office we have babysitters at home with our child they are well equipped to let dogs out or provide basic care if needed.
