I love animals like they’re family

Pet care experience

**My experience with animals: I grew up with a cat and she survived until I was 13 years old. I loved my cat, Baby, so much and considered her my best friend throughout my childhood. I was quite heartbroken to experience my first “close” death at 13. When I was 14, my family got a chocolate lab at 12-15 weeks old. I spent most of my time with her due to my parents having busy work schedules. I taught her how to do basic commands like: sit, shake a paw, roll over, and recall commands. I also taught her how to walk without a leash being necessary as she would listen to my command of saying, “other side” and move to the opposite side of me if other people/animals were approaching. She was an extremely loyal dog. I would walk her every day, along with feed her at most times when my parents were unavailable to do so. I also bathed her anytime it was necessary... and because she was a lab, she loved swimming in any body of water she could find so that ended up being more often than I may have preferred at the time. I lived with my grandma for quite some time. She got a kitty around the same time that I moved in. I loved her and treated her like part of the family as well, however, she definitely loved my grandma the most. I just moved to Victoria last year from Regina, SK and I ended up getting really lucky to find an amazing roommate who owns two cats of her own. Due to her being away often for personal commitments, her cats have become very fond of me - just as I have for them. They follow me around the house and cry when they know I am leaving the house. They spend most of their time in my bedroom hanging out with me and I truly get a lot of joy from the love they give me as I reciprocate my love for them.

I am the proud pet momma of a 10 lb Chihuahua named Tequila. When he met Daysha for the first time he fell in love with her. She stayed with us in our home for a few days and he looked forward to his walks and cuddles from her. Tequila and I highly recommend her.

We have a seven year old cat who is high strung. She does not accept or trust people very easily and has been like this since we got her from the Humane Society. Daysha is extremely gentle with her and has earned her trust. She has come into our home and stayed with her and taken care of her while we were away. Because our cat has specific dietary needs, Daysha follows feeding instructions to a “T”. Daysha has a significant time to gain Sophie’s trust. She plays with her, not only using cat toys but also a game where the cat chases and follows Daysha around the house, I would recommend Daysha to care for either cats or dogs. I have seen her with other pets and she loves them dearly and spends a considerable amount of time interacting with them. Lynda G

One of my main priorities and focus in life is to treat all humans equally, giving them the same care, respect and love I would to any other... and I treat animals just the same. I will respect all of your care instructions to ensure I treat your pet(s) just the way you would treat them if you were available to do so. I understand that lives can get busy and your animals should feel completely safe and comfortable while you’re away. As well, if I stay in your home and you’re OK with it.... surprisingly I love to clean! So I’m also happy to provide that free of charge if that’s something that could help you out as well.

**What would help me? Please let me know if your dog requires any special needs care. I would love to care for your animal with the same love and respect you treat them with. If you have instructions or any kind of information that would help me, I would love that! If your animal has any allergies or medications, that would also be helpful knowledge for me to have while I’m caring for them. I would also love to know what things your animal enjoys, whether those are activities or just the way you speak to your animal. Again, I just want to be a temporary care giver to your animal in times that your busy schedule just doesn’t give you the time. I value your trust and respect the same way that I expect others to value mine. My intentions are not to make money, although it is necessary to survive in this world, it is to truly give vulnerable/busy people the chance to have the peace of mind that their loved family members (pets) are cared for the exact same way they are cared for when their best friend (you) is home.

A typical day

I am very active and love to be outdoors. I will do anything to take care of your animal the same way you would take care of them if you were available to do so. Some of the activities I can do with your dog(s) include: taking them for walks (long enough distance to their preference and abilities), hikes (difficulty to their preference/abilities), to the dog park (as long as they have been socialized prior as I don’t want them to encounter any kind of situation that would put them at risk of their safety and well-being), and anything else you could recommend I do with them so they can get the most enjoyment out of our time together. My favourite place to hike in Victoria is Mount Doug; I often hike there at least 5 times a week. However, I’m willing to take the time to research different areas around your home to find the best spots to take them as well - and I would also love any kind of recommendations that you have that you know your dog enjoys!
