I have always loved animals! Animals are my passion and a few years ago I started looking for ways to start working with them and helping them. I volunteer weekly at the Humane Society Behavioral Center and have taken numerous classes on dog training, personality, manners, and interaction. I have learned loose leash walking, clicker training, doggie manners, how to work with shy/fearful dogs and hyper dogs, positive reinforcement, and proper etiquette for outdoor doggie adventures (such as hiking). My husband and I currently have a 2 year old, 60-lb shepherd mix. He is very friendly and well socialized. He has loved getting to play with the dogs I have watched or the foster dogs I bring home from the shelter. We live .5 miles from the dog park and go every morning! We also live 1 mile from dog beach and go every weekend when the weather is nice! We love being outside and exploring. My house has a pretty decent sized, high fence, front yard that my dog and his friends love to play in. I even bought him a kiddie pool and will fill that up when it is hot outside. We have all wood and tile in the house, so if there are any accidents that is okay! My dog gets free range of the furniture. Your dog is welcome to snuggle up with us on the couch or watch TV with us in bed. In addition to all of the playing they will get in the yard, I will also make sure they get out on a walk or to the dog park everyday. I am home all weekend. Your dog will only be alone for a few hours at a time while I am out running errands. During the week, I work a typical 8-5 job, but come home every day for an hour lunch in the middle to let the dogs outside and run around. My work is only about 15 minutes from my house. My husband is in the military and he is usually home around 3pm M-F. I choose not to do daycare during the week because I don't think I can give your dog all the love and attention they deserve! My work at the Humane Society has given me a lot of experience and insight working with puppies and senior dogs. In addition to my 2 year old dog, Hank, I also have two cats. They pretty much stay tucked away most of the day. My dog likes to chase them, so they are good at finding places he can't get to them. If you dog is really aggressive with cats, my house probably isn't the one for you. I have experience fostering animals with behavior issues from the shelter and know how to deal with dogs who are food or toy possessive/aggressive. I am positive I can give your animal the love and attention they deserve. I am comfortable working with dogs who have funny behavior issues like being shy, hyper, nervous, etc. I like being active and will adjust to your dogs style and personality.
